Welcome to the I Am A Leader Reader Series. This series is designed to enhance your child'sreading ability, critical thinking skills, and leadership qualities.
As they learn to read they will become more confident in their reading comprehension. Asthey become more confident readers ask them the critical thinking questions at the back ofthe book.
The best way to teach your child to read is by consistently reading to them for short periodsof time. As a result this book was designed to be used over a span of five days for 15minutes.
CONGRATULATIONS
Day 1:Introduce IT WORDS. Go around your home and look for IT words. This will allow them to put a picture to thewords.
Day 2:Do the Word Builder.
Day 3:Do the flash cards. Remember make it fun.You can jump, clap, wiggle, or hop after each word.
Day 4:Read the story and color in the pictures. The story was designed for your child to draw in the pictures. Feel freeto print out the book. This method allows them to better remember the words.
Day 5:Read the story.Your child should be able to start reading the story. Revisit any part off the book.

Hi, my name is Harriet Tubman.
I am a leader.
I like to help other be their best.
I led people to the free land.
When the sun was lit we hid in a pit.
In the pit we would sit, sit, and sit.
When a kid was sick we hid in a pit.
In the pit we would sit, sit, and sit.
When it was very cold and we did not have a mit we hid in a pit.
In the pit we would sit, sit, and sit.
When we hit free land we had a fit of joy.
I am a leader critical thinking questions. These questions are designed for your
child to see the leader in themselves. Encourage leadership qualities in your
child.
Why does a leader have to do their best?
What do you think "fit of joy" means?
Can you recall a time when you did your best even when you did not want to?
