Developing Language Skills
• Storytown Vocabulary Development in each LessonoHigh Frequency Words – to develop “automaticity”. This frees the brain up to
help with comprehension.
oRobust Vocabulary Words – to develop language acquisition. These are not tested words. They are longer, harder words that we encourage use of in daily discussions.
o Spelling Words – to develop memorization, phonics and spelling skills. PLEASE, use these for “sight” words as well as spelling words. Students should know how to read and spell these words.
oReading – The more your child practices reading stories, the better a reader he/she will become – both with oral reading and comprehension.
