Riddle of the day – I saw an unusual book: The foreword comes after the epilogue; The end is in the first half of the book; The index comes before

the introduction. Name the book.

Fun fact of the day – Until they finally won a match in 2012, Manchester Rugby Club had lost 87 games in a row. Their losing streak stretched over 3 years!

Have a wonderful weekend!

9:00 until 9:30

Your first daily dose of half an hour of BRAIN POWER! Let’s mix things up a little Badgers…

Keep a record in your home learning book of the activities that you complete this week.

Please check out the class page for July’s reading challenge. How many of you can get bingo across the month? I am confident you can all get a full house throughout July.

Remember to keep Miss Ayers updated on your progress with evidence so that you can earn your rewards!

Joe Wicks has reduced his weekly workouts to 3 a week. Why not become the replacement PE teacher on the days he is off? Remember – you can check out all his workouts on his YouTube page!

Around this time of year, we would be having Sports Day at school. Make your own Sports Day at home and have a family themed day where you compete against each other at different sporting activities.

With only a couple of weeks left of school before summer holidays, it is time to start thinking about transitioning to your new class and maybe even a new school! Make a list of 5 things you are most excited about and 1 thing you are worried about.

Miss Ayers is running low on riddles for our daily PowerPoints. Can you find any and email them to her? Yours might get included on the home learning presentations!

Pick one of the spellings from the Year 5/6 spelling mat that you are unsure of. Try writing a tongue twister for this spelling and test somebody in your house if they can say it 5 times in a row.

Go on Maths Frame Multiplication Check and see how many times table questions you can answer correctly out of 25. You will have 4 seconds to answer each question: https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/477/Multiplication-Tables-Check

Spend 30 minutes dedicated to mindfulness –you may want to do some yoga, colouring, reflection or meditation – whatever it is that keeps you calm and relaxed.

Visit the Harry Potter At Home Hub and listen to this week’s chapter of the Philosopher’s Stone: https://www.wizardingworld.com/collections/harry-potter-at-home

July’s reading challenge is up on the class pages section of the website. Please do take time each day to complete some of the activities and let Miss Ayers know how you are getting on – especially if you manage to get bingo!

Afternoon choices

Over the course of the week, you need to spend time completing the set tasks on the following subjects. You may choose which afternoon you would like to tackle each subject as long as by Friday, you have covered them all and have shown completion of the tasks in your book:

• Art

• French

• History/Geography

• Science

• ICT

• Reading comprehension

• RRR

See details of this week’s required tasks on the following slides.

Page 18: Happy Friday, Badgers we made it! I hope you all have a ... · Happy Friday, Badgers –we made it! I hope you all have a great weekend Riddle of the day –I saw an unusual book:

Weekly tasksArt – Our artist of the week is Georgia O’Keeffe.1. As an introductory task, find out 10 facts about her– you may present these in your books however you

wish e.g. fact file, poster, acrostic poem.2. Which piece of art of hers is your favourite? Research this online and then write a paragraph about what it

is that you particularly like about it. Challenge – Can you use technical vocabulary to describe it? E.g. Colour, shape, composition, shade, tone.

3. Recreate one of her pieces in your book and then evaluate it, giving yourself three positives and a future target.

Science – Our topic this week is ‘Scientists and Inventors’.1. On 20th July 1969, the Apollo 11 spacecraft landed on the Moon. Inside the spacecraft were astronauts

including Neil Armstrong and Buzz Armstrong.• How did they get there?• How did their spacecraft manage to fly from our Earth to the Moon?• How did it land safely?2. Margaret Hamilton worked at NASA and was responsible for programming the onboard flight software on

the Apollo computers. She wrote the code that the computer used to navigate from Earth to the Moon. Use computer research to correctly order and explain some of the most important events in space travel. There are some templates and guidance sheets with information to help you on the next slide.

Weekly tasksFrench - Our topic this half term is Time Travelling.1. Read through the separate PowerPoint presentation and listen to the sound files to

ensure your pronunciation is correct.2. Use the DOB cards to complete the activity referenced on the PowerPoint.

History/Geography – Our topic this half term is World War 2.1. This week, you are to imagine you are packing your suitcase to be evacuated.

Remember there would not be much room for extras and you can take only 9 items of your choice. List the items you are going to take but prioritise them using the diamond 9 template, so it is clear which ones are your essentials. The top item will be your number one, the next level are your second two items all the way down to your one lowest item of the 9.

2. Draw the items in a suitcase and write a few sentences justifying your top choice. 3. How do you think an evacuee’s suitcase would vary today compared to back during

World War 2? E.g. technology advances.

Weekly tasks

ICT – Our topic this half term is Scratch. If you don’t already have Scratch on your computer, visit this website to use Scratch online: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/editor/?tutorial=getStarted\

Further guidance and a step-by-step guide can be found on the class pages as a separate PowerPoint. This will give you more detail about any of the stages if you need a refresher. If you feel confident with Scratch already, you are more than welcome to experiment and start creating your game.

Weekly tasksReading comprehension.

1) Begin by reading through the text on the next slide.2) Answer the questions carefully in your book, stating the question number and ensuring you answer,

where appropriate, in full sentences.3) Once you have answered all the questions, the answers are underneath the image of the questions. With

an adult, check through your answers and see how you have done.

RRR – Our article this week is article number 23.

1) Each week, we will have a different right as a focus. As with French, there will be a presentation uploaded to the class page on the school website for you to work through. This will give information on the article itself as well as lots of learning ideas for you to have a go at. It is a flexible resource so allows you to dip into the areas you would like to have a go at.

2) Please send pictures to me of any work you complete on this so that I can share it with Mrs Bottle – I know she would be thrilled to see it and we can then share it with on the RRSA (Rights Respecting Schools Award) pages also.
