President’s ReportDear Members,We are half way into the season of Lent and the Lenten recollection programs have been received well by the members who have turned out in numbers to be part of these Friday evening events. We have had four such recollection programs this month covering varied topics. I would like to thank all the speakers, Fr. Chetan Machado, Fr. John Pradeep S. J, Counsellors Chris and Jenifer, for leading these programs. I would also like to thank Msgr. Jayanathan for conducting the rst of the Lenten recollection programs on 7th March 2019. The Minstrels of Hope, a truly inspirational choir group from Philippines, consisting of ladies in the age group of 18 to 34 years performed at the Club as part of our Lenten Programs. As a service oriented choral group they strive to bring hope, joy and inspiration through their music. The ‘Carnival”, the last of the entertainment events before Lent, held early March being a day / night event saw a large gathering of members and their guests turning up early afternoon to the Club which was all decked up and wore a festive look. After a few rounds of Housie, the band True Blue from Goa took over and serenaded the crowd for the rest of the day and into the night. It was a fun lled Sunday with cocktails, amazing food, games and prizes. A big thank you to the sponsors of this event, M/s Pernod Ricard India Limited iBrowse held a book reading of author J. T Nahyam ‘The Devil’s Workshop, moderated by Air Marshall Philip Rajkumar. A large turnout of members who had an enjoyable evening and as one of them said and I quote ‘Very enjoyable evening at the book launch. It was truly humour, a dollop of the supernatural, some romance, mystery, passion and few surprise elements’. More than 30 enthusiastic iKids gathered at the iKids Readers event, the screening of Tin-Tin, an animated movie show and had a great time.We have reached the end of the nancial year and I am glad to announce that we have had a very good year at the club. The MIC’s have worked hard and have gone that extra mile to add value to their respective departmental

activities. Besides the entertainment shows which were a huge hit, we have had some really enjoyable programs for Seniors, Ladies, Children and Youth. The Library and iBrowse brought many renowned authors, to the club, Shashi Tharoor being one of them. Sportico had IPL format Billiards/Snooker & Cricket tournaments for the rst time. Over all utilisation of the club’s facilities has been at an all-time high. After a long time, Members had unhindered use of the club’s facilities since all construction activities had come to an end. I would take this opportunity to thank all members of the Manging Committee who have taken time out to plan, organise and oversee all of the events and deeply appreciate their contributions, time and eorts through serving on the committee. On behalf of the Sta and the Managing Commit-tee I wish you and your families a very Happy Easter.

Library iKidz Young ReadersContributed by John Quadros

Tintin nally found his way to the Catholic Club on 17th March,2018. The all-time favourite comic character came alive at the screening of “The Calculus Aair”. We had 27 kids take a break in between their exams to watch the young report-er Tintin, his dog Snowy, and his friend Captain Haddock on a mission to rescue their friend Professor Calculus, who has developed a machine capable of destroying objects with sound waves, from kidnapping attempts by the competing European countries. The smell of Pop-corn made watching Tintin a real movie experi-ence. We will be seeing Tintin more often in the library. Just to let you know that we have Tintin comics available in the library for all his diehard fans.

Contributed by Aiona Misquita Goes MARCH @ iBrowse 'The Devils Workshop - Musings Of An Idle Mind' by JT Nayaham

Ten months down the line, it is gratifying to see the CC Ballroom almost full at iBrowse book reading & author interaction events. 15th March 2019 was no dierent when author Wing Commander JT Nayaham's book of short stories, 'The Devil's Workshop - musings of an idle mind' was launched by iBrowse. Retd Air Chief Marshal, Homi Fali Major, our chief guest for the evening and JT's colleague in the armed forces did the honours. Our moderator for the evening, Air Marshal Philip Rajkumar, humorously and skillfully took us through the book, delving into the inspiration for several of the short stories, studiously avoiding spoilers! It was evident that the book drew heavily from JTs real life and experiences. Several stories have a twist in the tale, providing for very interesting reading indeed. Questions asked by the audience were lively and interesting, adding to the wonderful experience. JT already has a second book in the works and we were lucky to have him share and excerpt from the upcoming book with us. We look forward to having him back with us soon

Time ies and every year it seems to increase in pace, we are at the end of the FY 2018-19, and at CCOT it’s been an eventful year with two Golf tournaments (fund raising), besides the regular programmes of Leadership training conducted in collaboration with TalentEase, Medical Camps, Christmas FunDay, infrastructure requirement and Career Guidance initiative. As you are aware that CCOT undertakes these programmes at 11 Institutions for over 700 children. The two programmes in March were the Prize distribution and Medical Camp. We had the CC Charity Golf tournament in February 2019, and the Catholic Club best golfer trophy was won by Vinod John. He was presented with a trophy by our president, Raphael Johnson at the Carnival function held in the club on March 3, 2019. Hearty congratulations to Vinod for winning the trophy and we wish that many more Catholic Club golfers participate in our future tournament. (Refer pictures of the functions, here below). The last of the Medical camp was held at St Mary’s Boys Home, D Costa layout for over 180 children. The camp was attended by 6 Club doctors led by Dr Bobby Joseph and 3 others from St John’s Hospital. This year we have conducted these camps for 8 Instructions for over 500 children. All the medical camps end with a sumptuous lunch. On completion of the camp and on the doctors prescription, we follow it up with dispensing medicines, providing dental treatment, providing eyeglasses, treatment for Skin/Hair/ENT ailments etc. Thanks to all the doctors and volunteers in helping us improve the lives of these children, God bless you and your families.
