Grammar – Extending Sentences – C

Two sentences can be joined together with a conjunction (joining word) to make a longer sentence (compound).

Use the conjunctions and but or to join the sentences.

For example, I love playing with my friends but I hate doing my homework.

Grammar – Extending Sentences – B

We can use a conjunction to add a clause to a sentence. A clause must have a verb.

We can use the conjunctions where when if because to add subordinate clauses.

For example, I can’t go out in the garden if it rains tomorrow.

When he tripped over, he fell flat on his face.
