Job Description

The Terminals/Marine HSE Technician supports Logistics in the execution of their Nova Scotia business in line with the HSE-Management System in order to achieve Goal Zero. Individual will work closely with our Terminal Contractor to provide cost effective support to increase the HSE capability of the Logistics Marine-Terminal organization and keep updated on new internal and external HSE standards.

Proactively identify and mitigate exposures, work hazards and risk. Undertake hazard identification, evaluation and provide control & recovery recommendations. Reporting of Incidents, Near Misses, Unsafe Acts in accordance with company's HSE Mgmt system Provide ongoing field presence for face-to-face communications to provide HSE support to operations and promote HSE expectations Perform walk-through inspections & provide Logistics with concerns and potential corrective actions Keep updated on new internal & external HSSE standards, provide guidance, and ensure standards are implemented Act as focal point for the HSSE Case implementation, training, changes, and analysis Lead player in the implementation of the HSSE Management System Support & improve processes to maintain compliance with regulatory & organizational requirements Participate in the review of SIMOPS plans,

Safe Work Plans, & Safe Work Permits Participate in the Incident Command System as a safety advisor/safety coordinator as needed Assist in the developing and implementation of the area HSSE Improvement Plan Lead Local Audit process; Serve as focal point for audit preparation, and assist in developing corrective action plans Support (in some cases play lead role) in incident investigations Provide HSSE training as needed. Support Logistics and our Contractors in the use of HSE systems such as FOUNTAIN

Skills & Experience

Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college in a safety or environmental sciences curriculum, or at least 5 years of relevant experience in a safety advisory role, preferably working in Marine Terminals or Oil & Gas Industry operations. This position may also have heavy interaction with marine logistics vessels and maritime crew. Previous experience sailing as a licensed officer on OSV's, PSV's, or DSV's will be a differentiator. HSE and Marine Local Support & Knowledge Demonstrated competence in HSE and experience working in Marine-Terminal operations or Oil & Gas industry operations Ability to accomplish goals which require resources outside span of control (Drilling & Completions, Wells, Production) Work through others to achieve results Ability to influence beyond immediate sphere of control Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities Communicate effectively with management, external bodies, and all level of company employees Identify and implement effective courses of action to complete work and ensure achievement of departmental goals Manage projects effectively
