Causes of the Catastrophe:
Focus very close to the ground (only 13 km from ground surface)
Most houses poorly constructed, building codes not properly followed
Dense urban environment Lack of Earthquake preparation (People in some
earthquakes have saved lives after getting alarm from warning systems)
Lack of proper rescue and relief (China mobilized its military effectively to save many lives)

What can we learn from it?
We have similar infrastructures and haphazard urban development
Building codes are not properly followed Our only international airport has no Earthquake
emergency plan (The airport in Haiti was only half functioning at the time of Earthquake)
Our economical condition is too low to provide immediate relief in case of disasters
