T-FAS SPS Sampler
FLUID SAMPLING
Schematic of Single Phase Sampler
T-FAS SPS 15 Samplere T-FAS SPS 15 sampler is a single phase samplermanufactured to strict specications and designed to operate
successfully in normal or hostile cased hole environments. e
SPS 15 sampler utilizes a positive displacement sample chamber
and a nitrogen pressure compensation system to ensure that the
uid captured inside the sample chamber maintains pressure
during recovery. When the sample is maintained in a single phase
during recovery, lengthy and expensive recombination on surface
is eliminated. e SPS 15 is designed to permit quick and
representative transfer of the samples to D.O.T. rated transfer and
long term storage bottles.
When run on slickline the sampler is activated by a mechanical
clock set at the surface. On wireline the additional option of an
electronic trigger activated in real time at the surface is also
available. e T-FAS SPS 15 Sampler has also been modied for
deployment on tubing, primarily for applications involving
Halliburtons SIMBA carrier or FasTest system carrier. Incarrier operations an Annulus Pressure Trigger (APT) isemployed thus expanding the T-FAS SPS 15 samplers scope to
include standard drillstem tests (DST), shoot and pulls, or
anytime a tubing conveyed uid sampling system is needed. eT-FAS SPS 15 sampler in conjunction with the SIMBA carrier or
FasTest system carrier, sets the stage for the next generation of
reduced emission testing.
T-FAS SPS 15i Inert Option
Where measurement of trace components such as H2S is a key
objective the sampler can be treated with an inert ceramic coating
of all wetted parts to prevent adsorption onto the sampler itself.
Experimental results have shown that a ceramic treated sampler
will reliably store samples containing low levels of active sulfur-
containing compound for long periods of time. Transfer toceramic coated sample bottles can also be performed on request.
T-FAS SPS 20 Sampler
A modied version of the SPS 15 with strengthened components
and improved seals has been tested for service at 400F and20,000 psi.

Heavy Oil Applications
e SPS 15 has proven extremely effective in difficult heavy oil
environments, successfully capturing heavy oils in the API 7-8
range. In one instance a set of four samplers had been le
unattended in the hole for over four months and still successfully
collected and recovered representative samples.
Features:
Ability to operate in H2S, CO2and high G.O.R. wells
Double seal on all well pressure exposed joints
Fast redress ability
Rugged construction with minimal components
Lloyds Register Design approval
Applications:
Sampling all reservoir uids including near critical/volatile oils,
condensate systems and formation water
Ideal for single phase sampling for ow assurance studies
(asphaltenes, resins, waxes)
Exceptional performance in heavy oil (API 7-8) applications
Sampling for trace element analysis
