A great way to start is with our day camp style training. There are two weeks offered, one in June and one in July for this 4 day, 8:00am - 4:00pm program we will be teaching tree ID, bug and tree diseases, pacing, compass and volume estimation. Do you want to go? We are still taking applications. 6th graders must meet

camp readiness requirements. You must complete any one of the four

options listed below or combine council and activity points to total four.

Congratulations to the fifteen council members who have already qualified!

Participate in District Project Achievement (DPA)

Practice and compete on a 4-H judging team

$295.00 Gwinnett does not provide staff or transportation to this location,

but they are accepting campers 9-13 years old by July 15th.

Both Wahsega’s Wilderness Challenge and Burtons Marine Resource Camps were filled with a wait list the first day they opened at the state registration.

turn in the pop tabs annually in November

at the Junior Conference. The large

number of tabs that Georgia 4-H

collects will make an impressive

contribution to the

Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Each Gwinnett 4-H participant in the

6th-12th grades will be credited

$.10 per ounce, which is awarded in

voucher form applicable toward future

4-H events and activity fees in

May of 2018

will be donated to the

Georgia Lions Lighthouse for the Blind.

Get in the Game Gwinnett 4-H Forestry Team Training

Two outdoor daytime summer trainings are available at several Gwinnett parks. A group approach with individual make-up modules are available.

Make-up modules are in-office ONLY 8:00am - 5:00pm weekdays. Other arrangements by appointment only!

Cram style training is just before the area competition in September - evenings only.

Area competition completes the judging team requirement for Gwinnett's 4-H 2018 - 2019 school year, 6th - 12th grades.

Starting in the 6th grade, competition on one 4-H Judging Team is required to earn the

level-appropriate Awards Trip for the 2018 - 2019 school year.

Area Competition is in early September, location to be announced

Estimated departure from Gwinnett is 2:15pm - returning around 8:30pm

Learn about different trees

Identify bugs, diseases and conditions that

affect trees

Improve or discover your accuracy by

walking off measurements and pacing

Learn how to estimate the board feet of

lumber in a live standing tree using a scale

stick, two eye-balled glances at 66 feet

from the base of the tree using a volume

table.
