At the Guys Campus, you have all the benefits of being only minutes walk away from central London. Close to London Bridge (one minute walk from London Bridge rail/underground station), on the South Bank of the Thames, next to Guys Hospital, this is an increasingly fashionable area, with many bars, restaurants, markets and creative businesses.

Nearby are two halls of residence (Great Dover Street Apartments and Wolfson House), Hays Galleria and Borough Market (one of the oldest wholesale fruit and vegetable markets), as well as Southwark Cathedral, Shakespeares Globe theatre and Tate Modern.

You are close to many of Londons best loved attractions, including the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and Shakespeares Globe, and you are less than an hour away from many of Londons other famous sights. A brisk walk down the South Bank will bring you to the Waterloo Campus, where you are minutes away from the National Theatre, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Covent Garden.

The Guys Campus is adjacent to Guys Hospital and home to the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences (also at the Waterloo Campus), the Dental Institute, and the School of Medicine. Much of this campus has been remodelled and refurbished, with new students union facilities and a major new building New Hunts House, providing state-of-the-art lecture, teaching, library, laboratory and research facilities.

  • 5Getting aroundLondon has a vast public transport system and an Oyster card is generally the cheapest way to make single journeys in the Capital. An Oyster card can store up to 90 of credit, which can be used to pay as you go, plus your Travelcard or Bus and Tram Pass.

It can be used on London Buses, London Underground, London Trams, the DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services in London. You can also get up to a 1/3 off River Bus services.

Pay as you go has several advantages over paper tickets: Oyster single fares are generally cheaper Credit can be used as you need it and doesnt expire Daily price capping automatically calculates the cheapest fare for all the

journeys you make in a single dayBut if there is a group of you travelling together check at the ticket kiosk if a group ticket would be cheaper.

An 18+ Student Oyster photocard entitles the holder to buy student-rate Travelcards and Bus and Tram Pass season tickets (valid for 7 days, or one month or longer periods of up to one year), which cost 30 per cent less than an adult-rate season tickets.

Credit can also be added to an 18+ Student Oyster photocard to pay as you go at the adult rate, which is cheaper than paying cash. However, single, daily, 3 Day tickets and Oyster single fares (pay as you go) are not available at student rate. If you live near your school or college or only make a few jour-neys you can get a standard Oyster card and pay as you go at the adult rate.
