First Pages is a program designed to bring all of our new Huskies together outside of the traditional classroom setting. Each year we choose a challenging and engaging book that provides insight into an important issue.
This year’s selection is Strength in What Remains, by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Tracy Kidder. As you read this novel, think of concerns, questions, or comments that you might contribute to the conversation about the book with your new classmates, as well as the author, who will present to the incoming class during Welcome Week on the evening of September 6. Students may purchase a copy of the book from the University Bookstore at a 20 percent discount beginning June 13. The book is also available at most retailers and as an e-book.

Massachusetts state law requires all full-time and part-time students enrolled in a Massachusetts institution of higher learning to participate in a student health program or in a health benefit plan with comparable coverage. The Northeastern University Student Health Plan (NUSHP) meets and exceeds state requirements. You may choose to decline NUSHP if your current health insurance meets Massachusetts’ guidelines for comparable coverage.
STEP 7: REGISTER FOR
Students who are eligible and wish to decline NUSHP must do so each academic year by completing the online health-waiver form found at myneu.neu.edu. Students will have access to this form once they receive their first semester e-bill.
