PROGRESS REPORT

Certificate Course on “ETP/STP/CETP Operations and Maintenance under

Green Skill Development Program (GSDP)

Organised by ENVIS Hub, EPTRI

Sponsored by EI‐Division, MoEF&CC, Government of India

Duration 10th

February,2020 to 24th

March, 2020 (260 Hrs Course ) Venue EPTRI, Hyderabad The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, for

the first time, has taken up an initiative for the Skill Development in the Environment and Forest

sector to enable unemployed youth to get gainful employment. This programme endeavours to

impart Green Skilled working skill to candidates having minimum technical knowledge and

aptitude in the respective field which contributes to the Sustainable Development.

A growing shortage of persons with hand on experience in Water and Air monitoring is reported

nationwide, crippling well intended schemes related to research programmes and all monitoring

activities in industries and as well as environmental laboratories. Keeping in view of this, the EI

Division, MoEFCC has awarded a Certificate Course on “ETP/STP/CETP Operations and

Maintenance” under Green Skill Development Programme to ENVIS Hub, EPTRI. The target

group for this course are science graduates. Therefore, this certificate course would serve as a

source of employment in various pollution control Boards and Environmental Laboratories as well

as in all the industries who are having Environment and Health safety wings as there is a huge

demand of Skilled Monitoring Experts.

A total of 25 participants (List enclosed as Annexure I with attendance sheet) have undergone

training under Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) on “ETP/STP/CETP Operations

and Maintenance” at EPTRI, Hyderabad from 10th

February,2020 – 24th

March, 2020. Among

them were 14 female candidates and 11 are male candidates. The participants belonged to

different castes 2 of OC, 2 of BC-B, 1 of BC-A, 6 of BC, 1 of OBC, 9 of SC, 1 of SC-B, 2 of ST

and 1 from General. The students were imparted theory and practical knowledge by conducting

Laboratory exposure and field visits. There were taken to Common Effluent Treatment Plant

(CETP), Jeedimetla, BHEL, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Amberpet , Hussainsagar.

Dr. Suneela. M, ENVIS Coordinator, Mr. Sanjeev P Santhosh, Training Officer, Mr. N. Ravinder,

Chief Environmental Scientist and course coordinator and N. Satheesh, Data Entry Operator,

Coordinator made very good efforts in all aspects for successful completion of the course. On the

concluding day the students received the certificate from MoEF&CC, GoI.

Introduction

The students were selected through selection committee in the Walk‐in‐interview as per the GSDP

guidelines. The selection committee comprised of Dr. M. Suneela, ENVIS Coordinator and Mr. N.

Raveendhar, Chief Env. Scientist, Laboratory and Course Coordinator.

The selected candidates were intimated through mail and phone calls. After acceptance from the

selected 25 candidates out of 25 required for course. Inspite-of repeated calls the candidates could not

turned-up due to their continuation of studies and research activities. Hence, the course started as per

the programme schedule with 25 candidates. The students were provided with ID card, Cloth Bag, Long Note Book, Study material and Stationary.
