Don’t forget to get your thank you cards written and mailed out as soon as possible! Our sponsors are who help us make our fair great, we could not do it without them!
Aside from trophy and award sponsors, don’t forget to send thank you letters to your club leaders and advisors, superintendents, those extra friends and family that stepped up to help you out, and anyone else who helped to make your 4-H and FFA year a great learning experience! Let them know you couldn't have done it without them!

Fall Leader Meeting
All organizational leaders (4-H and Clover) mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 28 at 6:30pm at the Oakland Community Center. We will chat about the new 4-H year, 4-H enrollments, club programs, club and officer expectations, record books and more! RSVP to Hallie by August 26th. If you cannot attend, please schedule a time to meet with Hallie to go over this infor-mation.
4-H Record Books
As the 2018-2019 4-H year begins to wrap up, don’t forget to get your record books started! All record book guidelines, tips and forms are available on our website—https://www.extension.iastate.edu/eastpottawattamie/page/4-h-record-keeping-books-and-livestock-id-forms. All forms are available in Microsoft Word and Google Docs to either print off and hand write in or to type in and print off. Please use the Record Book Guideline sheet for the recommended order of how your record book should look and pages you should have included, this also makes a good checklist!
There are also record book examples for Junior, Intermediate and Senior record books available to take a look at. A printed sam-ple is also available in the office to look at. The sample record books are put together in the recommended order with the re-quired forms and information needed for a complete book. If you are unsure which forms you need—take a look at the sample books! Also notice the samples are clean, neat and organized.
Record books must all be submitted to your club leaders to be checked by first. Leaders then submit checked record books to the Extension Office for a second judging by 5:00pm on October 1, 2019. Record books and awards will be passed back at the annual awards ceremony, Jamboree in November.
2019-2020 4-H Year
As fair has come to an end and state fair is just around the corner, the 2019 4-H year will end August 31, 2019. The new 4-H year will begin September 1, 2019 and enrollments will open up in 4-H Online.
