• A 10 year, $1.6 billion program that has become the ‐centerpiece of the State’s technology based ‐economic development platform through a balanced portfolio of investments in:

– research and commercialization – entrepreneurial assistance– cluster development

obiomedical, medical imaging, fuel cells, photovoltaics, advanced energy, advanced materials, and sensors

– expansion of the talent pool4

• Economic impact of $6.6 billion

• Created 41,300 jobs and a return on the state’s investment of 10-to-1 in its first seven years.

• $700 million, four year renewal of the Ohio Third Frontier Program set for May 2010 ballot.

Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo)A regional non-profit organization to accelerate offshore wind deployment in Lake Erie.

• NorTech will work in partnership with the Great Lakes Energy Development Task Force to develop and launch LEEDCo.

Warren Technology & Business Center for Energy SustainabilityA cleantech incubator that will nurture smart-grid, energy storage and advanced building material companies.

• NorTech will develop a business strategy, operational plan, and governance structure to develop and launch the incubator.

Flexible Electronics InitiativeFlexible Electronics Initiative

Goal: To cultivate a flexible electronics cluster

– Electronic devices that bend and fold such as displays, photovoltaics, batteries, and sensors.

– Fabricated using a full range of flexible materials (organic, inorganic, hybrid) and processes (printing and vacuum; batch and roll-to-roll)

– Enabling a broad range of possible end-use applications for consumer, industrial, healthcare, and military markets.
