PASTOR’S LETTER

PASTOR’S LETTERPASTOR’S LETTER

In order to do this, we need to have a vibrant and healthy home base. For that reason, our prayer is that we can pay off our entire church mortgage, and thus save the church $1.5 million in interest. And once we become debt free, we will be freedup for more mission in the future!

Second, it’s about Faith—faith and sacrifice. We want this Campaign to be a “faith-raiser”as together we embark on a spiritual journeyof investing our treasure in the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Through this Campaign we will learn to depend on God more than ever—as we seek Him, hear from Him, and trust Him to provide. I believe we will all take a quantum leap in our walk with Christ, as we step out in faithand dependence upon Him!

My prayer is that you will join me in Multiplying the Gospel! Will you pray, will you give, and will you go? Our community, our world, and we ourselves will never be the same!

Sincerely,Pastor Guy

Dear Church Family & Friends,

Whether you were here with us for our 2006 or 2012 stewardship campaigns or this is the first one you’ve heard of, you might ask, “What is this all about?”

First, it’s about Vision. We want to multiply the gospel, here and abroad—prompting us to name our Campaign “Multiplying the Gospel.” For years we have been doing that, but now we want to do something we’ve never done before, we want to have a child—we want to birth a new campus that reflects the DNA of Mountain View in its core vision, core values, and core beliefs. We hope and pray to begin this new campus in or near Ballenger Creek sometime in 2020. Our prayer is that this campus will impact the city of Frederick as people from all walks of life become followers of Jesus and influence their city.

Our vision also involves adopting—adopting spiritual children—and we aim to do that in a very poor township called Egoli, just outside Capetown, South Africa, as well as adopting an unreached, unengaged people group (UUPG), likely in Africa or South Asia. Through your giving— disenfranchised people, hurting people, unreached people—will be reached with the gospel through word and deed.

THE VISION

THE VISIONTHE VISION

Have you ever experienced a Miracle? A miracle is an act of God that only God can do. It is, as

some say, a “God-thing.” Our prayer for this Campaign is that together we will experience a

“Miracle.” And that is why we are aiming for the Miracle Goal of $3.4 million. Why? Because that

will enable us to carry out the mission in Urbana, in Frederick, and throughout the world that we

feel called to, and we will be able to pay off our facility in full so we can do more mission in the

future. We want to Multiply the Gospel, in our neighborhood, in our community, and in the world.

But a Miracle can only come from God. It has to be “His” doing. And that’s why we want to go

deeper with God than ever before. We want to hear His voice, follow His lead, and trust His

provision. And if we do that, if we lean on God and step out in faith, He will work. He will provide:

01

03

02

04

He will plant this new campus in Frederick through us

He will help us minister to the poorest of the poor in Egoli

And if this takes place through us it will be because

God did a “thing” in us—a “God-thing”—and this will indeed be a Miracle—and it will be all to His glory!

Together, let’s Multiply the Gospel and make the great

name of our God known!

He will begin a new gospel work among an unreached people who will be unreached no more

He will pay off our Facility in full so we can use the $1.5 million we save to do more mission

As you can see on the chart, we have identified three goal levels: Victory, Challenge and Miracle… but make no mistake, we are praying that God will do a miracle! Someone once said “If you aim for nothing, you’ll hit it every time!” The apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 3 that God is “able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine”.So let’s pray for and aim for a miracle so that we can accomplish all that God has asked us to do!

WHAT’S YOUR ROLE

?

?

WHAT’S YOUR ROLEWHAT’S YOUR ROLE ?

What part can you play in Multiplying

the Gospel? You are invited to participate

in multiplying the gospel in three

specific ways:Ask God to help you

Grow Spiritually,Give Sacrificially

and Go Missionally.

A. How can I Grow Spiritually through Multiplying the Gospel? At MVCC, we believe that stewardship is a reflection of our faith

and trust in God’s provision. This Campaign is a faith-raiser, not a

fund-raiser. Therefore, we are asking everyone to pray, trust God to

provide, and then give as He leads.

B. What do you mean by Giving Sacrificially? At MVCC, no one will ever come to you and ask what you give. This

is between you and God. However, we will challenge everyone with

equal sacrifice, unequal gifts. That means everyone will be asked

to prayerfully consider giving up things that you can do without in

order to make room for generosity. Not everyone can give the same

amount, but everyone can give something.

C. What does it look like to Go on Mission? If you are a follower of Jesus, you are a carrier of the gospel. You can Go on Mission in three ways by: (1) Sharing God’s lovein your community, (2) Helping MVCC plant a campus on the15 Corridor, (3) Staying connected to the global efforts of MVCCto reach UUPG and beyond.

01 02 03 04

God is able to do “immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine”… so trust that He will provide what He impresses you to give, even if it’s greater than the resources you can readily identify or expect. Leave room for faith in your commitment.

God does not expect equal giving, but He does expect equal sacrifice. Remember these are gifts above and beyond your regular giving. Think in terms of what youcan give up in order to reach our community and our world for Christ.

Each individual should take time to discuss this matteras a family or with a close friend, and seek God’s guidance. Children should also have a part in deciding the amount to give. This is a journey for everyone!

This is the first and most important step to preparing your heart to respond to God’s call to action. Ask God to guide you as to what He would have you give. Listen to what He says (e.g. through His Word, through others, through promptings of the Spirit during times of prayer, and through circumstances).

4 STEPS TO DETERMINEMY FAITH COMMITMENT

PREPARE TO EXPECT A

MIRACLE

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21

This is a deep spiritual journey, where together we are prayerfully seeking God’s leading, asking Him to show us what He wants us to give toward His work. We believe this Campaign has the potential to grow your faith and change your spiritual life like few things can.

One’s $10 might be as significant as someone else’s $10,000 and one’s $100 as significant as another’s $100,000. We are asking each of us to consider making a generous, sacrificial gift, no matter one’s income.

No one will come to your house and knock on your door and ask you to give. How much you pledge will remain a matter between you and God (and our admin support staff).

HOW CAN I GIVE?

HOW CAN I GIVE?HOW CAN I GIVE?

A B C D

Will anyone’s commitment be

made public?

No. Your pledge is a matter between you

and the Lord and will be handled confidentially.

Can commitments be changed?

We understand that life is unpredictable and

unforeseen circumstances may arise. You may

decrease or increase your commitment at any time

during the 30-month campaign period.

Is it okay to make a commitment to give

an amount that I don’t have now?

Absolutely! That would be called faith! And faith

pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). In fact, this is the

fun part of the campaign! It’s all about trust! As

you hear God, obey Him.

Do you have any recommendations for how we might

make room in our budget for

additional giving?

Yes, we have a separate document called “Digging

Up Buried Treasure” that provides several

ideas from our Campaign Leadership Team.
