Bereavement Support Sessions
You are not alone. We invite you to be part of a circle where we hope you find space to grieve, to search, to listen and to reach out. Our Grief Support sessions are an opportunity to share with people who also struggle and hurt, who have tears on their hands and pain in their hearts. Although you are deeply wounded, let us find comfort and healing in what we believe and in our ability to care for each other. Bereavement Support Sessions will be held from 6:30—8:00 PM at Resurrection Parish. We will begin with a light dinner at 6:30 PM.
Wednesdays: February 5 & 19 - March 4 & 18 - April 1 & 15 - Please call St. Therese Rectory at 412-462-8161 or e-mail [email protected] to RSVP. These sessions are independent of each other so you may join us as often as your schedule allows. Support Sessions are organized and led by parish staff and volunteers. We strive to bring the healing presence of Jesus Christ to all those in need. All are welcome!
Bereavement Ministry As a parish family we always seek to support one another. There is no time when we need each other more than when a loved one dies.
What you may be feeling: Not me – I could never do that - Many people feel that they could not do this, but given a chance the opportunity to reach out and offer support is a blessing to the family and the volunteer. If you have ever had someone die, then you know what a comfort it is to know that people care.
What would I do? You would call the family and offer your sympathy and the sympathy of the parish. You would then journey with them as they plan the funeral mass.
I don’t know enough to plan the mass – training is provided and the Mass liturgy is set. The families receive a booklet with readings and music to choose from, you write this information down and turn it in. There is also the opportunity to visit the funeral home and attend the mass.
We have many funerals in grouping 229 and this parishioner to parishioner outreach is greatly appreciated by those in mourning. Please consider joining this important ministry by calling Lori at 412-462-8161 or [email protected].
