What makes studying English in the Philippines unique?
1. 1-on-1 ClassesThere is no doubt that taking 1-on-1 classes with professional and qualified teachers, who are proficient in the English language as the second language,is a great advantage to anyone who chooses to study and enhance his/her English skills in the Philippines.
2. Affordable tuition fee and cost of livingFinishing a language course and living comfortably without spending much abroad are within one’s grasps. A student can only spend 1,300 to 1,500 USdollars per month compared with 2,000 to 2,500 US dollars expense in America,Britain, or Canada.

What is La Salle Language Center (LSLC)?
1. Building and location
The main LSLC building is built in La Salle University campus. It has 170 small classrooms for 1-on-1 classes, 16 rooms for quad classes, and 15 big rooms for big classes. It is fully air-conditioned. Our foreign students are provided with La Salle Identification Card to have easy entry in the campus. They can easily mingle with Lasallians (students of the University of St. La Salle), staff, and teachers. Also, they can enjoy being with other students, local and international, using the facilities such as, swimming pool (250 pesos per month), gym, Stinger’s Food Court, library, soccer field, and others.
2. Experienced, skilled, and professional teachers
Since 1997, LSLC has hired teachers who are efficient in teaching the English language implemen- ting its developed curriculum and program. All LSLC teachers are specifically assigned to teach a skill, like listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They are professionally trained to encourage and hone students’ confidence and English skills while keeping their own teaching styles and expertise. For years, the center has taught English to students who wish to learn both language and culture at the same time.
3. Intensive 1-on-1 classes
Each student’s ability and level of the four macro skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) in learning a language, such as English, are honed in 1-on-1 classes. These are handled by skilled teachers individually. Organization of ideas could be monitored and enhanced with speaking and writing teachers through descriptions, daily conversations on issues and news, diaries, and others. Moreover, comprehension of ideas and differing English accents could be closely guided and developed by listening and speaking teachers.
4. High satisfaction rate
Improved English skills, developed friendship, less pressure, and comfort are few of the reasons why our foreign students, who experienced studying English in LSLC, would either extend their stay or come back. If given a chance to be in the Philippines, LSLC comes to mind first.
5. Classes in the University of St. La Salle
Any foreign student who is enrolled in LSLC can attend classes in the university in a real Philippine classroom setting for further exposure and experience of the culture and language. This can also be the best avenue for our foreign students to interact with other students in the campus. Thus, cross-cultural experience and friendship start.
6. Inexpensive Cost
Since Bacolod is not a big city, tuition fee and cost of living are 20 to 30 percent lower than other cities, like Cebu and Manila, Luxurious hotels, resorts, and shops offer excellent services at low cost. Our foreign students can enjoy eating delicious food and delicacies at very reasonable prices.
7. Conducive learning environment
Though the economy in Bacolod is growing, there are only few places of entertainment for our students to enjoy hanging out with friends. To focus more on enhancing their English skills is possible.
The LSLC building is newly built with 170 1-on-1 classrooms, 16 4-in-1 classrooms and 15 big classrooms, all fully air-conditioned so students can take classes in comfort.

The students who can complete the TESOL program will receive the certificate (Certificateof Introductory TESOL Course) from the University of St. La Salle - LSLC (La Salle LanguageCenter).
The introduction of TESOL course offers a broad-brush area to the students. This courseis not a program for an official teacher training, but for the students to have the chance toexperience and practice teaching technique through processes, like, peer teaching or demonstration class.

2) Buddy Program
LSLC students meet USLSstudents and spend time interacting about culture, like, visiting a house cooking food, playing sports, joining events and activities, and more. Through this program, our students use English and experience exchanging cultures with the Filipinos.
7. Special Program
1) Volunteer Program[Language Sharing]
[Visiting an orphanage]
Any LSLC student can share or teach his/her own language and culture(e.g. Korean, Japanese, Chinese) to the students of University of St. La Salle for free. The class runs for 90 minutes and is given twice a week.
LSLC students, after language sharing, visit a local orphanage to voluntarily serve, clean, give gifts and play with the less fortunate kids..
A certificate of appreciation is given tothe students who volunteered, upon thecompletion of the programs.
3) Club Activity
Considered as the 4th largest island of the Philippines, The NegrosIsland is divided into two, namely, Negros Occidental and NegrosOriental. Negros Oriental is the home of the oldest university,Silliman University located in Dumaguete City. On the other hand, Bacolod City is situated on the northwestern coastal plains and hasa population of approximately 500,000 people. In addition, it isknown as the sugar bowl of the Philippines.
Bacolod City is the seat of prestigious private universities, such as,the University of St. La Salle, Colegio San Agustin, University ofNegros Oriental Recoletos, Riverside College, West NegrosUniversity, and others. Compared to other cities, like, Iloilo, Cebu, and Manila, it has fewer foreigners. It has clean environment, low cost of living, and stablesecurity situation.
From your country to Bacolod, you can take an international flight going to Manila or Cebu. To Bacolod, it takes one hour flight fromManila and a 30-minute flight from Cebu.
Boracay Island is considered as one of the world’s three majorbeaches. It has a length of 7km from its north-south point and 1-2km from its east-west point. It’s possible to walk around it. But,for convenience, it’s better to go around the island by renting a bicycle or motorcycle. Aside from the 4km stretch of white sand beach,Boracay also has its own Bat Cave,the famous Puka Shell Beach,andShell Museum. A book writer mentioned that Boracay Island is the “Island Closest to Heaven”.The writer could neverforget the beautiful sunset in the horizon just before the night settles in, the fine white sand beach, pristine waters,and the harmony of all natural elements surrounding the enchanted island.
Every January,Calibo City,a city near Boracay celebrates “Ati-Atihan Festival”. Local and foreign guests always amass the streets during the festivity. It is wise for guests to book their hotels in advance.
It takes a 30 minute walk around the island. Swimming in the pristine waters surrounding the island and enjoying the waft of salty breeze during a balmy night could be best for a comfortable and relaxing stay in the island.It would only take I hour and 30 minutes ride by car from Bacolod to the port going to the island.

1. AccommodationLSLC dormitory is just a few minute walk from the main gate of USLS. Since it is a new building, it is clean, convenient,and spacious. It has 3 discussion rooms for 12 people, 11 single rooms, 19 double rooms, and 99 triple rooms. It can accommodate 346 students at once. Each room has refrigerator, electric fan, hot and cold shower, comfort room,air-condition, sink, desk, study lamp, mirrors, bed, blanket, pillows, closet, hangers, chairs, and trash can. Also, studentsare provided with a laundry basket twice a week for their dirty clothing to be washed by the person in-charge.
2. FacilitiesThe dormitory has a resident office, reception area, convenient store, laundry area, internet, study room, students’ lounge,cafeteria, recreation area (table tennis, and mini gym), and audio-visual room (AVR).
Note: Also, the students can conveniently call a taxi, ask for any food delivery, and be helped for anything they need through the receptionist at the reception area.

1. Tuition fee is non-transferrable. 2. Students are required to attend a 2 hour 8-in-1 group class on their first 4 weeks of study in LSLC. Any student who wishes to change a 2 hour group class into 2 hour 1-on-1 classes is discouraged. Under inevitable condition, a student can only do the change after paying 100US dollars more.3. SSP is cancelled when any student would incur 2 or more absences in a month. Also, the student’s certificate of attendance from the University of St. La Salle cannot be received. 4. There are no classes or make up classes on declared Philippine legal holidays. However, if the number of class days is less than 18 days in 4 weeks, 1 make up class is given.5. All students must have insurance.
