A PUBLIC NHS – WE WILL:

• Fight for a publicly funded NHS free at the point of use

• end the creeping privatisation of services.

• Ensure the super-rich pay fair taxes

• Introduce a wealth tax on the richest 1%

• Close tax loopholes

• A minimum wage of £10 per hour by 2020

• Create a million green economy jobs, many in home insulation.

This will:

• Cut unemployment benefits, getting people back to work

• Cut the deficit as people start paying tax and national insurance contributions

• Cut the UK’s gas import bill

• Cut gas bills for consumers, allowing them to spend more money in the local economy

• Cut greenhouse gas emissions

• Abolish the unfair Bedroom Tax.

• Build 500,000 new social rented homes and bring empty homes back into use.

• Introduce rent caps and longer tenancies for renters.

jon says ...I am 57, married, have three grown up children and have lived in the constituency for 40 years. I work for a transport consul-tancy based in London.

Many people know me for my environmental and road safety work. I have appeared on radio, tv and chaired some of the largest public meetings the town has seen. When residents have been threatened by environmentally damaging proposals I help people to get organised and run effective campaigns. The most recent campaign I launched was to stop the proposed Thames Estuary Airport.

London City Airport bans flights on Sunday mornings but flights at Southend start at 06.30. I will work to ban night flights and flights before 10.00 on weekends at all regional airports.

I will fight to end brutal austerity politics; instead promoting the politics of compas-sion at home and abroad.
