Customer focus, passion for design and entrepreneurship are thecornerstones and guiding principles behind everything we do. Internally as well as externally. Together they form the values that shape our visualidentity.

Keeping our identity clear and consistent will not only make us trustworthy and look professional. It is also a matter of acting as a leader in our business.

Our visual identity is part of who we are and what we stand for. Correct use of colours, symbols, fonts and other graphic elements interact to promote our values, our personality and our unique strengths. This is why our visual identity is a vital asset separating us from our competitors. Knowing how to implement and use our identity is imperative for everyone involved in communicating the Comfort Audio brand, including our partners.

Don’t forget that quality is made by care for every single detail and that the details often shape the total brand experience.

Core elements of our visual identity It starts with the core elements, the building blocks of our brand’s visualidentity: a logotype that shows we stand behind our ideas; a dynamic colour palette and a clean typography that gets our message across quickly and easily.

On the following pages, we’ll look at each of these core elements. Thereare quite a few rules but please take the time to read and understand how they work, and how they can be used together to ensure a fresh and vital brand identity. It’s crucial that the brand appears correctly and consistently in every communication.

See Logotype colour options (page 8)to view the different colour versionsof our logotype and how to apply them.

Always use approved artwork whenreproducing the Comfort Audio logotype. Never manually type in the name in conjunction with the symbol. See Incorrect use of the logotype (page 10) for further details.

There are a few exceptional cases, e.g. on products, where the white sound wave is applied in isolation, without the red box. This application is not to be used without approval from the Comfort Audio marketing department.

Core elements LogotypeThe logotype is the most important bearer of the company’s visual identity.Correct and consistent application of our logotype accelerates recognition, invites attention, and improves awareness.

The elementary form of our logotype consist of a symbol (sound wave enclosed in a fixed, red box) and a wordmark (our company name) with specific proportions, and it must not be changed or distorted.

The relationship between the symbol, wordmark and payoff should never be shifted or adjusted. The logotype is set with specific letterspacing and the logotype letterforms are customized for the Comfort Audio brand.

The Comfort Audio logotype with payoffPreferred version. This is always our first choice – in colour and with the payoff under the logotype. Use this version for all printed materials.

Payoff

The basic version of the Comfort Audio logotypeChoose this version when the space available is not sufficient for the preferred version or when the printing technique can’t guarantee a good visual reproduction of the payoff. One example of application is products.

To ensure high visibility and anuncluttered presentation, alwaysmaintain clear space around theComfort Audio logotype.

Clear zoneA clear zone of open space must be maintained around the logotype toensure that it always stands out clearly. No other design elements, suchas texts, illustrations or pictures, may be placed inside the open space. The clear zone is equal to half the width of the symbol as illustrated below.

Minimum sizeIt is important that all parts of the identity can be easily read in everyapplication. For this reason, the logotype should not be reproduced at sizes any smaller than those specified below. The reason is clarity and the only exception is on promotional items, such as pens and pins.

There are no maximum size restrictions as long as the clear zone requirements are met.

Core elements Clear zone and minimum size

4 mm 6 mmMinimum sizesThe logotype without payoff can be reproduced smaller than the preferred version (with payoff). However, note that specific artwork, should be used when reproducing the logotype in 4–5.9 mm.

.epsEPS (Encapsulated Post Script)files are vector artwork in high resolution (800 dpi), scalable and feature transparent backgroundareas. This is the recommended format for printing.

.jpgJPEG (Joint Photographic ExpertsGroup) files are optimized for usein applications such as PowerPointpresentations and websites. Jpgs are not scalable and do not feature transparent background areas.

Both these formats are Macintoshand PC compatible.

The colour configurations of our logotype accommodate most print and digital applications, including spot color (PMS), four-color process (CMYK), RGB (Web-compatible), all black, all white and all silver.

Consider the background when applying the logotype. Make sure to use the version best suited to achieve high contrast. Avoid red or blurry backgrounds as they might compete with our logotype or create to much distraction.

SecureStreamTechnology

Always use approved artwork whenreproducing the SST logotype.

In addition to the Comfort Audio logotype we have one more logotype to consider within our company. The SST logotype is important because it is the visual representation of the unique, patented technology found in most of our products.

When the SST logotype is shown in combination with the Comfort Audio logotype, the SST logotype should always be smaller than the Comfort Audio logotype.

The black and white versions of the logotype without descriptor are only used on products.

When writing SecureStream Technology in text, make sure there is no space between Secure and Stream and that capital letters are used in the right places.

Colour leads to easy recognition of brands when used consistently. Comfort Audio has carefully chosen it’s colour palette to create a cohesive identity for all communicative material across all media. The palette includes corporate, communication and accent colours. Pay careful attention how to use the colours.

When applying the colours in communication material avoid overuse of any colour as it might be counter productive to its purpose.

Please note that Silver PMS877 that converts to 40% black in four colour printing (CMYK) might need to be adjusted depending on printing method and paper quality.

Always match to Pantone® colour swatch and consult your printer regarding recommendations for the most accurate reproduction.

Do not use this document for colour matching; refer to the Pantone® color swatch books when specifying ink colors.

For appropriate RGB colours (for use on screen), use the ”Adobe RGB” ICC colour profile.

Communication coloursA coherent palette of communication colours are vital for communicating what makes us special and different. They are used as coloured backgrounds or areas of colour behind text, as coloured frames or as coloured text elements, such as bullet points. The use of our communication colours should be considered carefully and applied sparingly. In general, applications will look stronger if one colour is used per page; avoid the use of multiple colours. Tints (screened percentages of the full colour) of the same colour will create a coherent feel throughout a document. Should not be used in tints less then 40%.

Accent coloursAs the name indicates, sometimes it will be necessary to use small areas of bright colour to highlight or separate information (e.g. PowerPoint charts, maps, on-line navigation). We have specified two suitable accent colours. These are to be used sparingly and only in 100%.

Print specifications

PMSAn abbreviation of Pantone Matching System. This system is used tospecify spot colours (ie individually mixed colours) for printing. Theletter ‘C’ after the specification indicates a colour’s appearance oncoated paper stock. The letter ‘U’ after the specification indicates acolour’s appearance on uncoated paper stock.

CMYKInitials representing the four colours - Cyan, Magenta, Yellow andBlack (Kohl) - used in the four-colour printing process. Differentcombinations and proportions of these four colours are used toachieve matches to the spot colours.

Screen specifications

RGBAn abbreviation of Red-Green-Blue, indicating the primary colours of light. For reproduction on screens and other electronic systems, combinations of these three colours are used to match to the Comfort Audio colours.

Web colour #To achieve colours that can be reproduced satisfactorily on internet and intranet sites, Hexidecimal colours should be specified. These provide a greater degree of consistency than RGB colours when there is no control over the equipment used to view the site.

DIN comes in many versions but we use only FF DIN Pro. The font should be purchased in OpenType as it features cross-platform compatibility (the same font file works on both Mac, Windows and other systems).

Please note that you will need to adjust the kerning (the space between the letters) when type- setting DIN. This is necessary to achieve a nice, visual balance in the text. The larger DIN gets, the more tightly it needs to be kerned.

Font for our marketing material is: FF DIN Pro

Font for internal use for example in office applications (Word, PowerPoint etc.): Calibri

Typography should always look great, but first and foremost it’s a functional tool. Use it to communicate, not decorate. For continuity and simplicity, we use only one font in our external communications. We have selected DIN as the primary corporate font, to be used in all marketing material. It is a clean and simple font, giving a contemporary feel to our communications that mirrors our forward-thinking spirit.

DIN is classified as a sans serif font known for its legibility at all sizes in body copy and display work. The DIN font family comes in many styles; however, Comfort Audio use only the ones shown below. Never distort, condense, stretch or alter the corporate font in any way.

For internal use in for example Office applications use Calibri, which is pre-installed on all Macs and PCs from 2007. Calibri is an appropriate alternate font because it is a sans serif font that looks similar to DIN.

Modern society poses new challenging, listening environments for people with a hear-

hearing properly in all situations as it amplifies all sound, even distracting background

noise. Comfort Digisystem will change all this! Comfort Digisystem is a range of digital hearing products with unique features devel-

“More energy! Because now I don’t have to try so hard to hear what people are saying.”

2 All text should be placed inside the specified margins. Images and illustrations may bleed off the page.

The logotype is always placed in the top right corner on the front cover of all brochures, so that it is clearly visible – for example, on a brochure stand. Ensure there is significant contrast between the logo and the background. The placement and measurements shown below are fixed. The remaining space may be used with creative freedom. Images and illustrations may bleed of the edge of the page.

Square formatsThe recommended square format is a cut version of A4 in 210x210 mm or US letter size 8,5x8,5 inches. The square format is excellent to create a sense of exclusiveness and is preferably used for pre-launch teaser material or in VIP communication.

TrifolderThe trifolder is a triple folded landscape version of an A4 or US letter. It is useful in cases whenever there is a need to present brief, easy-to-access information on products or facts. The trifolder is an excellent tool for resellers or stores.
