We start with a couple of emails tous about rubbish
1. What a picturesque welcome! It'sa pity we can't photograph the
smells!--andthis is outsideGran MundoRestauranteand ConsumSupermar-ket.TheCouncil attempt tokeep thebins cleanfrom time totime, buttheir effortsare abusedwith greaseand dirt depositedon surroundingpedestrianareas in nosmall partby localCommercialUsers and"Drive-By"Oppor-tunists. We havelived with
this for 7 years now, and it is a huge"blot on the landscape" for PuertoMarino part of Gran Alacant. It's sucha pity, as we love living here and areproud of other improvements. Is there any help please?
2. Please, Please, Please, could youask Loreto why there are still nopaving slabs, after almost 8yrs, onthe pavement opposite the pool onAvda Finlandia 5 to Avda 7 nos.197-201, opposite the car wash at PuertoMarino, the only area on the urbanisation without them. It is useddaily as a "dog toilet". My husbandand I had a meeting with Loreto several months ago and provided photographs that she had asked forof the fouling. Nothing has beendone since then and until slabs arelaid it will only get worse. It was noticed by many residents that thearea was cleared for the mini-marathon last weekend!!-beforethat it was impossible to walk onthat side of the road. This does not create a very goodimage to people visiting the area.It seems to me that Puerto Marino isnot included in any of the plans forimprovements in the Gran Alacantarea.

Also for the past 8years we havelooked out to a building site full of rubble and builders waste. I cannotunderstand why everything is"dumped"in front of our houses, why cant it be put near to Lidl &Consum side of the land. Could itbe possible to screen the wiremeshing further so that it is totally obscure from the outsidelooking in. Surely this would give abetter impression of the area. Thissubject has been brought up at almost all of the urbanisationmeetings - to no avail.
I would be most grateful if youcould kindly discuss this problemwith Loreto-it is causing a greatdeal of stress. Thanking you in anticipation. On behalf of myselfand many unhappy friends &neighbours. Puerto Marino.
Firstly, from us, fines are beingissued NOW for rubbish and dogfouling abusers.
Loreto did take this matter up forthe residents. These areas havenothing to do with the Town Hall. Itis all the responsibility of Los Serranos, the people who own theGA Commercial Centre. The answergiven to Loreto is that the companywill sort these problems out, butthe lack of money at the momentmakes things rather difficult. As regards the mess by the bins.Again, this area has not yet beenhanded over to the Town Hall, sothey should not even be lookingafter these bins but Loreto askedthe cleaning company to empty
them. There was no special bin cleaningbefore the marathon, just the usualclean to try to help the community. This was also apparent when thelack of street lighting was broughtto the Town Halls notice. Loretospoke with Los Serranos and theproblem was solved although thisagain was no responsibility of theTown Hall. Rubbish from bins is a nightmarefor the cleaning team at the TownHall. They empty the bins and onlya few hours later rubbish is strewnaround outside the bins again. Rubbish should be PUT IN THEBINS not just dumped on the pavements. Bins are emptied dailyso they should not be over flowing,if they are, take rubbish to the nextavailable bin. Please think of theenvironment.Pictures below and overleaf, showthe new park area being provided

by MASA builders. These park areas have to be provided by the builders when theytake over area plots for house building.Pathways will be for walking and cycling and the area will include aplayground and small sports area, lighting and benches. The Town Hall
will not sign off areas of building unless this park land has been provided. We will have pictures next month ofthe OPENING OF the SPORTSCENTRE. It was due to be opened onNovember 27th when our magazinewas at the printers. It was to be a big event, lasting allday from 9.30am to 8pm with all ofthe sports facilities being used by associations and schools. As wesay..more details next month.
At the initiative of the Departmentof Transport, which manages theTown line between the companySuBus they will include two hoursevery Saturday a stop at the newcemetery, thus addressing the request of the citizens of Santa Polawith the need to have a public busroute going to the cemetery, locatedaway from town.
The City of Santa Pola, through itsLocal Development Agency, has received a grant of 94,500 euros to
implement a new Comprehensive Plan forEmployment for recipients of unemployment benefits, called PIE-MOTIVA'T2011. These programsare part of the employment promotion grants that theDepartment of Economics, Finance andEmployment, togetherwith the European SocialFund, promoted in thearea of the Valencia

The fountain on the roundaboutnear the school is still not working. The Town Hall has an insurance agreement to cover anybreakdowns, and the company whoconstructed this are duty bound torepair the problem. We did askwhether the watering system wasworking for the watering of the newplants. Loreto rang those concernedto check that all was ok.
All newpavementsare beinglaid fromtheCarabasiComplex,up towardsthe school.Manypavementson our urbanisa-tion are not very wide, so whenmoney allows, the Town Hall are carrying out this work. We did saywe have been asked to mention thesunken drain outside the entrance toMediterranean 1, this is causingproblems parking cars, so a phonecall was made, and hopefully this willbe resolved.
Santa Claus and the Three Kings willbe coming to Gran Alacant on December 18th at the GA ComercialCentre and more Christmas activitieswill also take place on January 3rd at
the LIfe Resort.
Loreto would love a choir to bethere, singing Christmas Carols,so have enlisted us to try to provide one for both of the aboveevents.
You may have noticed that workhas started on the new SantaPola marina. Money for this hascome from Central Governmentat Valencia and from Private Enterprises. This money was allprovided before the economiccrisis hit home.
Starting Thursday, November 24will start operating a new callcenter in the Health Center ofSanta Pola, prepared for the future enlargement of the clinicand will allow greater flexibility in receiving and making phonecalls. There is a change in phonenumbers, from that date to be

Empezamos con un par de emailssobre BASURA

M.A.B.S.What a night.............what a show....
MABS really do excel themselves with theseshows. Three nights of packed audiences at Molly Malones and more than2,132 euro raised for thiswonderful cause.Remember, this money is
all for Gran Alacant people. If, God forbid, youor your family are struckdown with this wicked disease, this money is foryou, to help with anythingyou need.
Jean Reiterbund hasspent months making costumes, rehearsing theshow and organising therunning order on the night. There are of course many
helpers involved. Buildingthe set, painting the backdrop and pitching in,helping in all mannerof ways.
A message from Jan Wright(MABS Co-ordinater).
We thought it was thebest yet,

Hi Barry & Sandra
Just to let you know that I keep up to date with events in GA each day with websites and yourmag each month, even though for my sins I find myself in cold old Aberdeen for the first timein my life for the past four months, but heah itʼs work which very important to keep the wolvesat bay. My wife is still residing in Don Pueblo, again last night while every one is commentingon how much they enjoyed the storm, which we used to do, but now our great fear is that witheach storm our house and under build where we SLEEP when itʼs not a stormy night will beflooded. We live opposite Maxcoop on life resort and since the Life resort has been built all thewater that used to fall in that area on scrub land is now being collected and put into generaldrains. These drains just cannot take the deluge of water and us being at lowest point getflooded into our back patio, yes we have spent money to try and stop water entering our underbuild which till now has been successful, but each year we get all the slurry and filth that is associated with drain over flowing on to our back patio. I have been to se Loreta more thantwice she tells me it will cost a lot to sort out and with much disruption to traffic flow in ourarea, as well as telling me how well the council has solved problems in the Noriavia area butas I said to you and her in previous mail there are no houses for 100 mtrs.My wife has been to local town hall this morning and yes I understand that Loreta is busyyoung lady, our administrator will try and contact both her and council in next few days, couldyou please bring this subject up with her at your next meeting. Please tell her she or indeedyou self are welcome at our house or my wife can make appointment to see her any time, asthis problem is not getting better and now the rains are falling we fear with each storm.
Will be meeting with Loreto to discuss this on going problem. (Sandra & Barry)

Yesterday I was at my local Sainsbury's store buying a largebag of Winalot dog food for my loyal pet and was in the
checkout queue when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
What did she think I had an elephant? So, since I'm retired and havelittle to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting theWinalot Diet again. I added that I probably shouldnʼt, because I ended up inhospital last time, but I'd lost 2 stone before I woke up in intensive care withtubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is toload your pockets with Winalot nuggets and simply eat one or two every timeyou feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I wasgoing to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in queuewas now enthralled with my story.)
Horrified, she asked me if I ended up in intensive care because the dog foodpoisoned me? I told her no, I stepped off the kerb to sniff an Irish Setter's bumand a car hit me.
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he waslaughing so hard. I'm now banned from Sainsbury's.
Better watch what you ask retired people.
They have all the time in the world to think of daft things to say.
