When we are writing it is important to use the correct “there/their/they’re”

their

• Their shows that something belongs to someone. Here are some examples:

• Their laptop was shiny and new.

• When they got home, their poodle was pleased to see them.

• After their lunch, they went out to play with their friends.

there

• There usually refers to a place. Here are some examples:

• There is a tree.

• Over there is an enormous elephant.

• There is a lot of snow today.

they’re

• There is short for they are and is easy to miss out when you are writing.

Here are some examples:

• They’re running because they’re playing chase.

• Whilst they’re working, their baby sister is playing with her building bricks.

• They’re working really hard, but they’re incredibly cross because there is so much work to

do.
