GRADUATE SCHOOLELECTROCHEMICAL ENERGY STORAGE
The Graduate School Electrochemical Energy Storage (GS-EES) is currently being established in the framework of CELEST. The GS-EES will address the full interdisciplinary spectrum of electrochemical energy storage and conver-sion, from fundamental science to processing and appli-cation. The cluster of excellence will fund about 60 PhD students who will participate in the progam of the GS-EES.
CURRICULUM
3-year program in electrochemical energy storage.Admission with a relevant Master degree or as a Fast Track PhD thesis with a Bachelor degree.Thesis advisory committee. Supervisor, co-supervisor from KIT and UUlm and one postdoctoral researcher as day-to-day mentor.Periodic assessment of work. Annual meetings and reports within the Cluster and the GS-EES.
CELEST, the Center for Electrochem-ical Energy Storage Ulm & Karlsruhe provides a broad roof for scientifi c col-laboration and technology transfer in the area of electrochemical energy storage
(EES), bridging from fundamental science to large-scale cell fabrication and testing.

Research fi elds Li-ion batteries Post-Li batteries Alternative energy storage and conversion
The Cluster of Excellence POLiS, Post Lithium Energy Storage of KIT and UUlm investigates a new generation of post-Li elec-trochemical energy storage systems for stationary and mobile applications, which overcome the limitations of current battery technology.
The Cluster started in January 2019 and will run over 7 years (with an optional second funding period). In general, the Clus-ter of Excellence will be a major activity in the Post-Li sector in CELEST.
