Fashion usually means clothes, but there are fashions in hair styles, in home decorating, and in the foods we eat.

Today, because of new technology, fashion changes very quickly.. it wasn't always this way!!

FADA fad is a fashion that is very popular for a short period of time and then suddenly it seems as if no one is wearing it anymore!

A fad can be a color; it can be an accessory. Fads can also be an item of clothing.

Many fads are popular only with teenagers.

Fads help  teenagers express two important needs:

1) the need to belong to a group

2) the need for  individuality

StyleStyle refers to the shape of a particular item of clothing that makes it easy to recognize

Example: kimono

ClassicA classic is a traditional style that can stay in fashion for a very long time

Example: blazer jacket,jeans, shirts, sweaters

Example: mink coat, expensive cars,  big houses, jewelery, etc.

Old-FashionedOld-fashioned is a term that describes any style that we have grown tired of looking at.

Nothing seems new for very long. A garment can look old-fashioned to us in a very short time.

Example: buttondown shirts, v-neck sweaters

A) Fashion Babies: In the late 1700's, fashion babies were used to spread fashion news. 

Fashion babies were dolls about 1 foot high that were dressed in all the latest styles (Queen Marie Antoinette's dresses) and sent around the world.
