Look at the options below and choose a project to focus on this week. We would like you to think about what habits of an artist you are developing! You might like to try the other options for a fun activity during the school holidays! Explore Option 1: Tim Clarkson Inspired Origami Task – Rabbit

Who is Tim Clarkson? Tim Clarkson is a ceramic based sculptural artist. He is most commonly known for his origami inspired sculptures such as the crane, which can be seen in various public collections around Victoria. Click here to see some of his work. You will need:

Kinder square, or draw and measure out a square, then cut out. Remember all sides must be equal!

Texta or pencil to draw rabbit’s eyes

Watch demonstration video. It is tricky, so we suggest watching the video through once so you know what the end product will look like,

Main Activity: How do you stay active? This week is your chance to show your P.E teachers your favourite thing to do to stay active at home! We would love for you to share a photo or video of you doing your favourite activity at home! Some ideas may include:

Riding your bike or scooter.

Taking your dog for a walk.

Jumping on your trampoline.

Playing your favourite sport.

Playing your favourite activity.

Kicking a football/soccer ball.

Obstacle courses. Do you have a secret skill you want to share with your P.E teachers? We would love to see it! A secret skill is something you are really good at but don’t get to show it off often! An idea for a secret skill may be:

Doing a great handstand.

Skateboarding/rollerblading.

Kicking a football into the goals.

Skipping.

Recreational activities such as bowling, golf and table tennis.

It would be great to see what everyone's favourite activity is; this then helps us plan for future teaching units to cater to your interests!

Handshapes In Auslan there are lots of different handshapes. At present, there are sixty-two handshapes listed in the Auslan dictionary, however only thirty-seven are the core handshapes used, with the remaining twenty-seven seen as non-significant variations of these.

Auslan handshapes (worksheet found below planner) Task 3: Practise making each one of these handshapes. Remember with each sign there is:

Orientation refers to the direction of the palm and fingers and where it faces. Location may also involve two different places in the one sign e.g. DEAF (the first location is on the side of the face near the ear and the second location is on the chin).

Movement is found in all Auslan signs. There are different kinds of movements and they can either be big (macro) such as

dessert (cake, cupcake, ice-cream, banana split etc.) to make. You won’t have enough clay to create both adequately. Search images of food dishes on Google or look in some recipe books for inspiration.

2. Once you have decided what you will be creating, place cornflour in a bowl.

3. Slowly add glue. Keep adding glue until the mixture reaches a good consistency. If it’s too crumbly, add more glue. If it’s too sticky, add more corn flour.

4. Knead it like you would a bread dough recipe, until it’s soft, light and malleable, not sticky at all.

5. Now it’s time to create your food items. Think about size and proportion and if you’re making more than one item how much clay to use for each.

6. Place your clay food somewhere safe to air dry – 2 to 4 hrs.

7. Once hard, colour/decorate with paint or textas.

**You can make your banquet items out of playdough if you can’t make clay. Option 3: Recreate a Masterpiece
