1.8 . MULTIPLICATION USING THE BREAK DOWN METHOD.
Let’s try:
18 x 3 = 12 x 4 =
12 x 3 = 13 x 4 =
16 x 2 = 16 2 =
1 2 × 3 = Step 1: Break down/partition/ decompose the bigger number ( 10 + 2 ) × 3 = Step 2 : Multiply the decomposed number (could be tens and ones by the multiplier 10 × 3 = 30 2 × 3 = 6 Step 3: Add your answers.
30 + 6 = 36

Each number or shape pattern has a rule according
to which the pattern changes in a predictable way.
You must identify the pattern's rule to successfully complete the pattern. Study the pattern. Think?
Should I forward or backward counting in multiples of a certain number e.g. count backwards in 2s?
Perhaps repeat the sequence of numbers in a predictabl e way, e.g. 2 4 8 16 32 the number doubled each time.
Perhaps it is a combination , e .g. 7 3 3 3 5 5 5 7 7
repeat the number 3x and increases by 2.

P atterns
We have three different forms of patterns;
1. Recurring pattern: The pattern repeated form;
objects or colour, e.g. st5st5st5
2. Size altered pattern: The pattern size change,
the shape or object is larger or smaller,
e.g: c c c c c
3. Growing pattern: The shape; object or number
increases (grow),
e.g: QVQVVQVVVQVVVVQVVVV

Hulle was almal
Daar was vere orals- vere bo, vere
onder, vere links en vere regs. Die hoenders stop die
kussings vol vere.” Die son gaan toe onder. Hulle het heerlike sagte kussings,
maar
hulle kry yskoud! Die arme hoenders!
Date:_________________
Page | 29
naald leen?” Arend is nie vreindelik nie “hierdie is my
laaste naald.
Julle moet hom soos goud oppas!
weer heerlik snoesig daardie aand.

naald
te kry…
Hoekom skrop die hoenders so?
