    As with eating, a Muslim should always usetheir right hand when drinking and they should

    say bismillah before they start.

    The Messenger of Allah said, No oneamong you should eat with his left hand, ordrink with it, for the Shaytaan eats with his left

    hand and drinks with it.1

    The Messenger of Allah taught us that it ismuch better to drink when you are sittingdown. You may also drink when you are

    standing up, as the Messenger of Allah didboth, but it is still better to try and sit downwhen you want to drink.

    You should also try not to blow onto your drinkand not breathe into the vessel that you are

    drinking from. The Messenger of Allah told usWhen you drink, do not breathe in thevessel2

    A vessel is an English word that means acontainer that holds liquid.

    It is also better not to finish all of your drink in

    one breath. The Messenger of Allah taughtus that we should take sips and remove the
