Scale it up

Break it down If your child can’t think of what to draw, talk to him. Ask questions like: What is

your favorite thing to do? If you had magic power to do anything you wanted, what would you do? Is there

a special color that shows how you are feeling today? What do you want people to know about you?

Kids who feel good about themselves have the confidence to try new things. You can help your child build

their self esteem by praising their efforts regardless of the outcome. “I can see you worked really hard on

this.”

Creating art is a way for your child to express themselves. Instead of focusing on their final product, you can

say, “I like watching you draw.” You can create an environment where your child can freely experiment and

have fun without worrying about the final drawing.

“Community Art is art which is based in a community setting, and has been created

Several Tucson arts organizations partnered to create “La Suprema Com-

munity Mural” in Barrio Viejo. This vibrant neighborhood-inspired mural

features the Barrio. It represents the Native Americans, and people from
