SERVICE CHAIRPERSONS - 2020

President’s Message for OCTOBER 2020

Sunshine Report I just heard Les Andrews is having surgery soon. Please have him in your prayers.

Club,

We did pretty go this last month. We were able to sneak in another meeting, thank you Buti’s, a short tour, a few members also got out to the wineries near Plymouth. This shows our Club’s resiliency.

We have been able to appropriately social distance, still have meetings, still have tours, and gain new mem-bers. Honestly, it’s humbling to see how well this old club has gone back to grassroots ideas and made them work.

That being said we need to delay the Thanksgiving and Christmas gathering. There simply isn’t a space large enough to fit us all safely. The club voted and has decided that 2021 may be the banner year for celebrations.

Now I do have an out of the box idea for a November tour. Save the date for Sunday 11/22/2020. I will lead a manifold cooking tour. We’ll meet at Kmart at 10am, take a short tour, and eat lunch about noon.

If you’re interested RSVP by sending me a message or call. This will be a sunny day tour only. For those without an appropriate manifold to cook on you can pack a picnic, and a blanket.

Meanwhile, I hope you are all safe, stay well, and motor on. Godspeed, AJ

REPORTS: VICE-PRESIDENT: Bill Mitchell reported that the ACCC still exists. SECRETARY: Sandy Yanko had no report. Aaron asked if anyone had any corrections for the minutes from the September meeting. There were none and a motion was made by Calvin, seconded by Vern to accept the minutes as written. The motion was approved. TREASURER: Jan Elliot told us that potential new members, Jack Kuehn and Cris Mulvey, contacted her about joining the club. She reported a deposit $25 from the September raffle and a credit of $10 for a bank service fee. Our account balance is $3,682.11. The Cash Fund balances are Attendance Award $90 and Petty Cash $28. EDITOR: Sharon Pierce was absent. Aaron noted that she would want anyone to take photos of our tour this afternoon and send them to her to include in the Newsletter. MEMBERSHIP: Kristi Turnsk was absent. The Butis introduced their son Chris Buti and his family who joined the club today. Everyone welcomed them to the Club and Jan Elliot accepted their dues. PUBLICITY: Bobbi Whiting was absent SUNSHINE: Aaron reported that Les Andrews will be having surgery in the next few weeks. Jennifer will be sending him a card. TOUR CHAIRMAN: Vern Harms reported on the LWW Car Show that the Club attended on Oct. 3. The Club brought 12 cars to the event. Everyone enjoyed it and Bill Yanko reported that there were wonderful com-ments about the Model A’s presence there. The Oct 29 Tour to Plymouth organized by Ryck and Linda Johnson was a wonderful drive through beautiful foothills scenery and included lunch and visits to four wineries, Dobra, Dever, Bahorn and Villa Toscana. Calvin Campbell noted that he really enjoyed the wine tour even though he doesn’t drink wine. He encour-aged members to go on the tours especially to enjoy the scenery, adventure and the drive. TECHNICAL: Ron Pierce was absent. Arron Johnson announced he had bought the “Salt Truck” from Steve Straw. He is intrigued that the cab is an historic Nevada County snowplow cab attached to the bed of a pickup. Steve Turnsk said he has been rebuilding three cars lately and will be driving one on the Rally. Arron noted a safety measure he learned from old Model T magazines. It is the need to have a bright mark-er or light on your car if it’s color blends into the background especially at dusk. He added a bright red tri-angle on the back of his “Salt Truck”. Sheriff: Steve Straw collected $8 from members who weren’t wearing their Gra-Neva A badges and gave it to the treasurer. OLD BUSINESS: Virginia Campbell announced that she and Sharon Pierce have not had success trying to book a place to have the club Christmas dinner. They have had the same problem trying to get space for our November, Souper Saturday event. Few places can accommodate 40 people with the restrictions due to the COVID virus. She asked if they should keep looking or if the Club might just want to forgo those events for this year. Discussion followed and Bill Mitchell made a motion, seconded by Vern Harms that we not have these two events this year. It was approved. NEW BUSINESS: ATTENDANCE AWARD: The winner was Tony Alfaro who was not in attendance. The $70 stayed in the ac-count. 50-50 RAFFLE: Jan Elliot won the $25 dollars. THANK YOU FOR REFRESHMENTS: Aaron again thanked the Butis for being wonderful hosts for the meet-ing and for providing great refreshments. ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn was made by Calvin, seconded by Vern and approved. Aaron ad-journed the meeting at 2:45 Respectfully submitted, Sandy Yanko, Secretary ATTENDEES: Bill & Sandy Yanko, Vern Harms, Janet Elliott, Calvin & Virginia Campbell, Louse & Ted Baerresen, Vicky & Steve Straw, Bill & Karen Mitchell, Tish & Wayne Buti, Linda & Ryck Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Steve Turnsk

Lake Wildwood Carshow - October 3rd

By Bill Yanko

Thanks to all who participated in the LWW Car show on Saturday. In spite of not being the greatest conditions, I think it turned out well. The final tally was 80 cars entered in the show.

I’m sorry they ran out of food early. It turned out more people attended than anticipated, and everyone wanted hot dogs and brats.

I was checking out the Nextdoor website this evening and there were many comments about the car show…..100 percent positive. Below are a couple specific entries posted on Nextdoor that I wanted to share, one written and one picture.

Thanks again for hanging in there with a rookie GraNeva A’s event organizer!!! And hey….the back end of my car got into the picture.

Bob Ambrose’s Speedster.

I had to throw this in. From August 2009. Taken on one of the many weekends the Club went to Bob Agnew’s house in Johnsville near Portola State Park. Top picture, the big old house has been totally torn down and a brand new one behind it. People in the picture are, left: Louise Baerresen, Ron & Sharon Pierce and Trish Ricci (old friend of mine that came to several club events). Sure miss Bob Agnew, Rest In Piece.
