General practice finance is very complex as it
significantly affects other NHS expenditure and
it is under some pressure at present, including
restricted funding levels and growing demands.
General practice provides the majority of healthcare for the NHS and GPs are the principal gateway for patients to access other NHS services. As such, general practice bears the primary impact of the increasing demand for healthcare.
