Description
This course is handles the protocols and the signaling in the GPRS system. It also handles mapping and allocation of the GPRS channels and the main features of the air interface. The course includes traffic cases handling both the core network and the air interface.
The course together with the practical part (i.e. exercises) is a complement of the GPRS system survey and will extend the areas described in this survey.
Learning objectives
On completion of this course the participants will be able to:
Describe the architecture of the GPRS Network
Explain the signaling between the nodes and the protocols.
Describe the logical channels and the messages sent on these channels
Give an overview of the air interface (features and protocols)
Give an overview of the Gb interface
Describe the different types of interface in the core network
Describe how different traffic cases are handled by the system.
Target audience
The target audience for this course is technical customer staff, who need a global understanding of GPRS Network, such as:
Cell planners
Technical support
Network designers
Prerequisites
The participants should be familiar with GPRS on a System Survey level.Duration and class size
The length of the course is 3 days and the maximum number of participants is 20.Learning situation
This is an instructor-led theory course (ILT) including theoretical lessons and theoretical exercises.
A classroom with whiteboard, flip chart and overhead- and data projector is needed for the delivery of this course. PC with TEMS is preferred for each group to evaluate logs. A pocket calculator is needed for each student.
