From the inauguration of GPL 5 to the final

ceremony, we not only had a whole contribu-

tion from every single club, but we could also

see synergic effect when all the clubs join to-

gether for this event. We learned Spirit de

Corpse in Principles of Management and that

happened in GPL5, we congratulate all the

clubs for their kind cooperation.

Every step undertaken to implement the game

is a management learning that as a B-school, GSB was able to inculcate into the students.

Apart from the fun there will be a sense of

leadership and teamwork mixed in the game of

cricket.

The girls of GSB took exclusive charge of or-

ganising the event. During the the match, there

was a running commentary and that was also

done by the female managers of GSB, the insti-

tute always aims to develop in the students a

sense of leadership at all times and in all events.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to

CEO Mr. S. P. S. Arul Doss who initiated GPL

and also we express a sincere gratitude to GPL

commissioner Mr. A. Vijay Stephen CA who

played pivotal role in the conduct of GPL. We

also thank all the Team Owners, Brand Ambas-

sadors who whole heartedly supported their

teams through thick and thin.

Team TITANS

In the game of life, we never lose…. We either

win or learn…. And we are glad we’ve

learnt….

On a very personal note we, the team owners

sincerely appreciate the team TITANS and

their captain Mr. Sreejith for their unmatched

and undisputed TEAMWORK. It was not the

individual talents of our team that brought us

scores of victories during the tournament, but

the sheer TEAMWORK of every TITAN that made us shine as SUPERSTARS of the GPL

Season 5.

Special appreciations and thanks to the GPL

commissioner Mr. Vijay Stephen, his deputy

commissioners, the all-time umpire Mr. Prasad

and every individual who were part of the suc-

cess of this GPL Season 5

Dr. Gayathri

Mr. Richard Marcel

Team Owners

"It's easy to do anything in victory. But it's in

defeat that a man(sic) reveals himself", says

Floyd Patterson… and our boys,

TITANS revealed their best sportsmanship not

only during their victories but also during their

hard times.

TITANS were convinced that losing the match

may be heart-breaking; but losing one’s sense of

sportsmanship is a tragedy. Hence, the TITANS

made it sure to cling on the sense of sports-

manship till the end…

Because, it’s not winning or losing that counts;

what counts is how you play the game till the

end…. And our boys have proven it by securing

the most prestigious of all the awards: “The

Fair-play Award” which we believe is far more

precious than the championship.

What makes us feel proud of TITANS is that

we the TITANS got trained like champions,

won like champions and lost like champions…

and we know if you are undefeated, then you

are not fighting the right people and we were

truly glad to fight the finals with the right peo-

ple, the FALCONS.

GPL has given tremendous learning's for all. It

is not only winning.

It is Team Work.

It is Unity.

It is Leadership.

learnt. So remember all that these things could

do marvels in our lives.

Team Owners

I am happy and proud to say that I am the team

owner of the winning team FALCONS. I extend

my profound thanks to GSB for providing me

this wonderful opportunity to be the team

owner. Congratulations from my bottom of the

heart to the team players. Good Spirit! United!

Awesome Leadership! I should say initial

matches we were on the winning pace but sud-

denly we had to see certain falls due to lack of co-ordination. These gave them the way to

understand where they lacked and why they

failed. Then they made their mind strong that

Falcons is going to own the final cup, started

playing with confidence and with full vibrant

spirit which made them travel to the successful

destination.

The Mysterious to the hilarious, a game of

cricket has all of these. We all have our own

little superstitions on what wins matches. You

may have the best team and in the best of form,

still there are some superstitions you do not

want to attempt breaking.

Hope we all have experienced situation where

we have insisted that someone remain seated

where they were during an on-going game be-

cause the Indian team was doing well and we lost a wicket when the person moved to drink

water? We try to sit in the exact same position

and place as the previous game in the belief

that it was lucky for the team? I’m sure every

obsessed sport lover has indulged in the canard

at some point in time.

Cricket offers lot of ground for superstition.

The most popular is the ‘Nelson’ or the

dreaded score of 111 and its multiples or, made

popular by the enigmatic umpire David Shep-

herd, just like our very own here at GSB?

Speaking of numerical superstitions, the Austra-

lians’ dislike for the Devil’s number – 13, is very

well known; this dislike even extends to the

number 87 which is 13 short of a 100. There

are many an examples from the world of

cricket and a cursory browsing of the World

Wide Web will through up.

I was witness to my team losing the first two

matches and I used it as an excuse to keep

myself away from the ground. But what can I

say, the ploy worked, we came so close to

making it to the finals. Soon we were the most

loathed team in GSB. Everyone wanted us to

lose. The titans dreaded meeting us in the fi-

nals. The Spartans and the Falcons would both

have a chance only if we lose. Witchcraft, voo-

doo, black magic or just telling others of your

superstitious belief, I don’t know what to

blame, but we lost that important match. My

superstitions did not work when I needed it the

most.

Is success achieved due to superstition or be-cause of the player’s forte? The answer is

pretty clear to an observer, but a little ambigu-

ous to my teammates. I just tell them “Catches

Win Matches”. You cannot drop two important

wickets like those in the league of a Yuvraj,

Kohli or Gayle and still fantasize winning when

you have a temperamental Sreesanth (You

know who?) bowling for you.

I just tell them; after all, it is just a game. Play

hard, but don’t lose sight of the CIA II that is

round the corner. There, no superstitions ever

work. Only preparation, especially OM.

Anyways, quoting Dan Milman, it is the journey

that brings us happiness and not the destination

and there is miles to go in this journey through

the MBA program. So the next milestone is just

ahead, not start Chanting Inventory Manage-

ment and Layout!

Though we were not able to make it to finals, I

am happy with our team’s performance. In our

team we have some good allrounders, bowlers

and batsman. But we had some misses and

problems in our field. Apart from that, rest all

the three teams played really well. I am so glad

with our team spirit and co-ordination. We

got nice support from our team owners Mr. S.

P. S. Arul Doss, Mr. Sankar Singh and Ms.

Noorunisha. CEO contributed very well both

with ball & bat. He was the real strength of our

team. I would like to thank all our supporters,

The marketing club of GSB-EMPORIA, had the

privilege to be a part of cricket tournament –

GPL, where the warlords where set for battle at

pitch and were sweating the strengths out for

the top championship trophy.

Emporia helped in setting the tournament roll-

ing by conducting the GPL Auction for the team

players. Emporia in a association with Finrostra,

Opera Jaguars, Laincarnate and Cyber Conquer-ors were successfully in conducting the auction

where the team owners were selected and then

auctions of the team was done, with whole-

hearted co-operation from the BEMANS batch

of GSB.

At this occasion we would like to thank our

GPL Season 5 was really an

awesome event this time.

Encouragingly, the dynamism

of GPL changes year by year.

Especially this Season 5 trig-

gered the spirit of sportsman-

ship among the players to a

higher level as well everybody

in GSB felt the pulse of cricket

as sport when his or her own

team played on the field.

Being an owner of the team

SPARTANS, gave me a won-

derful experience by playing

with my team mates. Strategy,

wonderful unity and awesome

coordination were existing.

All kind of expressions were

seen on the field not only by

players but also by the team
