Government Without Boundaries
• Concept was developed at the September 2000 NASIRE Meeting
• We are creating a virtual pool of online government information and services from all levels of government
• Participating States (Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia)
Two Initial Projects
Virginia• An online repository
of government information based on a common citizen-focused taxonomy
• Webmasters at each level of government will utilize the repository in building their web pages
New Jersey• A shared calendar of
park events that contains information from local, state, and federal parks.
Federal, State, and Local - Calendar of Park Events
• Jurisdictions participate by adding a link from their website to the shared calendar
Federal, State, and Local - Calendar of Park Events
• Jurisdictions add/edit their own events through a separate and secure administrative page.

Government Without BoundariesBenefits
• Citizens and businesses will not need to understand the structure of government to get the information and services they desire.
• Provides a foundation for dynamic web page creation and data exchange
• Promotes cooperation between various government entities
What are the future possibilities?
• Government as a whole will be able to provide high-level service at a reduced cost
• It will be easier for government entities to give their constituents the power of information
What are the future possibilities?
• Complementary service rather than redundant service
• An improved image for government as a whole and an improved morale for government workers
• The sky’s the limit!
