Indian State-Level Basic Environmental

Information Database (ISBEID)

Indian State-Level Basic Environmental Information Database (ISBEID) with 17

modules and GIS interface has been developed in association with NIC, to assist State/ UT

Centres to collect, compile and disseminate information on a centralised server, and to fill

the gaps in environmental data dissemination.

ENVIS Portal – ENVIS portal runs in parallel with the Digital India

Objective.

Centralised Resource Inventory System (CRIS), geo-spatial

mapping of all the regional offices, autonomous bodies, subordinate

offices, Centres of Excellence, ENVIS Centres, etc.

Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAS) – The Science

Express Climate Action Special (SECAS) train was flagged off on 15

Oct. 2015 from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station for spreading

awareness and educating school children.

In F.Y. 2016-17, quarterly brainstorming sessions conducted in four

regions.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan – ENVIS Centres located in various parts

of the Country were actively involved in the promotion of Swachh

Bharat Abhiyaan led by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

Centralised Resource Inventory System (CRIS), geo-spatial mapping of all the regional offices,

autonomous bodies, subordinate offices, Centres of Excellence, ENVIS Centres, etc. under MoEFCC

was developed on the Bhuvan Portal with their contact details integrated therein.

In order to strengthen ENVIS Centres’ utility as a decision support system to the Ministry, NRSC,

ISRO has given an orientation module and training on Bhuvan portal to ENVIS Centres.

Instituted in 1987; given annually

In recognition of having made or having the potential to make measurable and

major impact in protection of environment.

Process as per Regulations Governing IGPP-2012 and Status

IGPP - 2012

Status of IGPP

• IGPP-2011 and 2012 were conferred on 5 awardees each on 2nd February, 2015

• For IGPP-2013, the Ministry received a total number of 109 nominations (59

individuals and 50 organizations), out of which 10 nominations (4 individuals and 6

organizations) have been short-listed by the three Expert Members. The ground

truth verification has been completed for all the 10 nominations. The next step to

convene the Prize Committee Meeting for selecting the awardees.

• For IGPP-2014, the Ministry received a total number of 76 nominations (48

individuals and 26 organizations), short listing of which by the 2 Expert Members is

yet to be done.

• For IGPP-2015, no advertisement was published as the process of rationalization of

various awards of the Ministry was under process.

• For IGPP-2016, process for releasing the advertisement has already initiated.

Way forward

Ministrys’ Agents of Change – ENVIS Centres to be Nodal Centres for

imparting and disseminating all kinds of environmental information, education,

awareness and training including Acts, Rules & Regulations available for all

stakeholders in user friendly manner.

Collaborative project proposals by ENVIS Centres on similar themes (to avoid

duplicity of work)

Information base to be developed/ compiled/ segregated/ analyzed/

disseminated at different levels – Block, District, State, Country and SAARC

nations and plan to establish ENVIS as a South Asian Knowledge Hub.

People’s Participatory Programme at village level – To create a Model

Green Village by involving village people to know various welfare schemes of

the Government. The project involves innovative methods for demonstration of

technologies, training and awareness by ENVIS Centres. This would consists of

baseline survey, Geo-mapping, environment education and training, etc. as a

prototype.

Paryavaran Times – A monthly newsletter is proposed to be published by

MoEF&CC containing latest information on programmes, policies, events,

innovations, etc.

6 Meetings of Review Committee were held on Utilization of

Grants-in-Aid for State-specific Needs for the Award of XIII FC for

2011-12 to 2014-15
