The matter was last discussed in the 74th and 83rd meeting of Expert Committee for import of 5,775

nos. and 6,017 nos. of EEAs respectively. Ministry granted permission for import of 5,775 nos. of

2nd hand EEAs from China for manufacturing of smart phone vide O.M. dated 18/01/2017 subject to

the condition that all EEAs shall be re-exported with three years from the date of import. Ministry

had also granted permission for import of 6,017 nos. of 2nd hand EEAs from Taiwan for used in

assembly of smart phones vide O.M. dated 16/02/2018 subject to the condition that all EEAs will be

re-exported with three year from the date of issue of permission.

Now the applicant informed that all EEAs are good and its residual life is still 6-7 years and these

would be transferred to M/s Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. which is sister/group

concern of M/s ITC Service Management Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and requested to this

Ministry for extension of period of re-export the above mentioned EEAs for another 3 years.

2.1.2. M/s Harman Connected Services Corporation India Private Limited (new application)

The applicant has imported following EEAs under Part-D of Schedule III of HW Rules, 2016 which

is to be re-exported after 3 years.

Now the applicant requested to retain these items under the amended notification dated 11th June,

2018.

2.1.2. M/s Intel Technologies India Private Limited, Bangalore, Karnataka (new application)

Intel and Apple has signed an agreement for apple to acquire majority of Intel's smartphone modem

business including 2,200 employees, intellectual property, equipment and leases. Pursuant to the

agreement, Intel India and Apple India executed a Local Asset Transfer Agreement. The assets

include electrical and electronic equipment, imported and retained by Intel India with approvals from

MoEF&CC dated 29/03/2012, 24/04/2014, 09/03/2015, 15/01/2016 and 16/11/2018. Apple India

will use these equipments for the purpose of cellular chip design and testing.

Now, Intel India has requested for the necessary approvals to transfer these EEAs to Apple India.
