The Gorillaz is an animated pop band

created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Before

Gorillaz, Jamie was an illustrator for Tank Girl, and Damon was in the

band Blur.

Jamie and Damon first met in 1990.

While watching MTV they came up with the idea of

Gorillaz.

Come on, come on, come on!

The band was originally identified themselves

as Gorilla. The first song they recorded was Ghost

Train.

In March 2001, the first album they made was

“Gorillaz”. The Gorillaz collaborated

with other artists. In the mockumentery, “charts of darkness”,

Jamie and Damon created the character Jamion.

D12 and Terry Hall

The artists that collaborated with the Gorillaz were Miho Hatori and

Ibrahim Ferrer. After the 9/11 attacks, the Gorillaz collaborated with D12 (without Eminem) and

Terry Hall to record the song 911.

Da La Soul

In 2005, the Gorillaz started recording songs for their second album, Demon Days. The album featured Da La Soul, Shaun Ryder,

and Ike Turner.

After going on tour for Demon Days, the band went their separate ways.

On March 3, 2010, the band returned to start recording songs for the third album Plastic Beach. The noise would be music to their ears.

Snoop Dogg

The song, “Welcome To The World Of the Plastic Beach”,

featured Snoop Dogg. While touring to promote

Plastic Beach, Damon wrote songs on his iPad for the final

album, “The Fall”.

The animated characters are Noodle,

Murdoc, 2D, and Russel. Russel was born in New York on June 3, 1975.

2D

Noodle

2D was born in the English county of Hertfordshire and

raised in Crawley, West Sussex. Noodle was born on October 31,

1990 in Japan. Murdoc is the bassist---Twang!
