We employ chartered landscape architects with experience of large UK infrastructure projects such as the Greenwich Peninsula Millennium development and the West London Rail Welcome Initiative as well as other commercial and community orientated projects. Our team members have collected several prestigious awards such as the premier award for the Ladbroke Grove canal towpath restoration from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in 1996. Other awards featured innovative projects in hospital grounds and land restoration schemes. Our practice won the premier award in the 2003 Spelthorne Borough Council environment awards for the enhancements carried out to Orchard Meadow in Sunbury-On-Thames.

Orchard Meadow Sunbury-On-Thames MiddlesexClient: Spelthorne Borough Council with Lower Sunbury Residents AssociationApproximate Overall Value: £185,000Services provided: Site Investigation/Landscape Design/ Landscape Specification/ Quantity Surveying/Planning Supervisor/Contract Administration/Clerk of Works/ Public Consultation and SignageLandscape Contractor: Wyevale Landscapes

We were appointed to act on a community participation exercise and drew up detailed designs and specifications to create a new village green on a previously inaccessible and derelict area in the town centre of Sunbury-On-Thames. The establishment of Orchard Meadow as a new public park was the final jigsaw in an effort to link Sunbury Park and Sunbury Walled Garden with Sunbury’s town centre thoroughfares of Thames Street and the Avenue.

The new meadow areas are now established for the enjoyment of the local residents who hold a community festival here each year. Features include decorative metalwork with a new access gate to the nearby walled garden, the planting of a mature avenue of Lime and Cherry trees and the redesign of the access car park that also serves Sunbury Park. Orchard Meadow is celebrated in a Millennium tapestry housed in the adjacent walled garden. The area’s history is further celebrated in a rope sculpture that we designed attached to the iron archway access to the meadow from Old Rope Walk.

Project Profile:

Beaconsfield Town Hall Green Client: Beaconsfield Town CouncilApproximate Value: £51,500Services provided: Site Investigation/Landscape Design/ Landscape Specification/ Quantity Surveying/Planning Supervisor/Contract Administration/Clerk of Works/ Public Consultation/Specialist artist’s commissioningLandscape Contractor: Geoff Alsford Landscape and Engineering Ltd

The Town Hall Green is located in the heart of Beaconsfield New Town next to the railway station. We were commissioned by the town council to redesign the Town Hall Green and to project manage the construction and planting works to completion.

We selected a theme of celebrating the rich links that the town has with its literary past, fine metalwork details evident in the Old Town and historic modes of transport. We designed a clay cobbled seating area with an Armillary sundial as a focus. We also designed the wrought ironwork displays arrayed around the seating area. Famous people remembered included GK Chesterton and Enid Blyton. The displays also celebrate the 700 year town street fair, a 1600 wall painting of a Lute player, a coach and horses, the local railway and Bekonscot model village. We commissioned the artist, Steffi Goddard, to paint the laser cut images of the lute player and the Noddy characters. The green is richly planted with an array of new trees, shrubs and bulbs making it much lusher and welcoming than before. Shoppers take advantage of attractive new seats designed in keeping with the original Edwardian concept.

The project’s success was recorded extensively in the local press. The town hall green is now enjoyed as a backdrop for numerous weddings, the annual Christmas festival of lights and the Summer Beaconsfield awareness day. It is also enjoyed every day by the inhabitants of Beaconsfield as an attractive seating and relaxation area.

01 View of seating area with wrought iron trellis panels and bronze armillary sundial as focal point. Local residents and shoppers are enjoying the new space.

02 View looking south of newly planted green with armillary sundial and trellis panel dedicated to the 700 year old Beaconsfield street fair in the distance.

03 Project designer, Toby Goodger, with artist Steffi Goddard, who painted the laser cut images, in front of the trellis panel dedicated to Enid Blyton’s Noddy characters.

04 The laser cut image of the mediaeval Lute player discovered behind a plaster wall in Old Beaconsfield reproduced here in a trellis panel framed by climbing plants.

05 The projects’ contractor laying the four leaf clover design in the cobbled seating area during construction. We project managed all the construction & planting works.

06 The Mayor of Beaconsfield opening the enhanced space at a celebration event with local dignitaries, councillors, residents, project designers and contractors.
