NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
GOOD NEWS!
NURTURE, SERVE, CONNECT
May 1, 2019
Spring in in full force. You can see it everywhere you look. Now that everything is leafing out and blooming, it's beginning to look a bit overgrown and in need of some pruning. An outdoor work day is scheduled for Saturday May 18th (start time TBA). There are many areas that need a little TLC. Our goal is to do as much as possible and hopefully be done by noon when a hamburger cookout is planned for all workers. In order to make this happen, many volunteers are needed, men, women and children. There is something for everyone to do including prepare the meal. A sign up sheet will be provided in upcoming days along with a list of what needs to be done, So mark your calendar, grab you work gloves and pruning gear and meet us at New Hope. Together, we will work to keep our church in tip top shape. Also, volunteer yard mowers are needed. If you would like to be a part of the yard mowing pool, please see Don Lee or Pastor Steve. Equipment will be provided as well as training.
Good Confession
and Baptism
Our community of faith was wonderfully and beautiful-ly blessed on Palm Sunday as one of our youth came forward to make her “Good Confession” of faith. Aubrey Cain came forward at the conclusion of worship and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Spiritual energy in the church was electric and the joyfulness of the church was undeniably present! We all anticipated sharing together as a faith community and bore witnesses to Aubrey’s Baptism in the Easter Worship service. The Church and membership were thrilled to be part of such a special day for Aubrey and her family. Board Chair, Diana Anderson, presented Aubrey with a new white bible to commemorate this holy event in her life. GOD IS GOOD!
The Sunday following Easter is always a special day in the life of the Church. Oftentimes the service reflects the movements of Jesus with his disciples following the Res-urrection. As we lifted up the Holy name of Jesus, there was a movement of the Spirit in our midst. As the Hymn of Invitation was sung Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bond stepped out of their pew and came forward to transfer their mem-bership into our Church family. Elaine and Neil are long time Disciples of Christ and very familiar with our tradi-tions and polity. We are thrilled with their renewed com-mitment to the church and Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Be sure to extend a warm welcome to these faith-ful Christians as they embrace their decision to become part of New Hope Christian Church.
May we have your ATTENTION! Something thrilling is happening at NHCC. A new study opportunity is forming. Over the next few weeks you will have the ability to experience an Easter After GROW! Following Worship service individuals are welcome to share in a study entitled, “The Return of the Prodigal Son” under the guidance and direction of Dr. Brad Davidson and Ms Ann Kennedy. If you would like to participate contact Brad or Ann. It should be a great time
of study and fellowship.

Easter Wrap Up Another great Easter has come and gone. What
fun it was! I could not let this event drift away
without thanking everyone for their support, coop-
eration and assistance. This year's egg hunt total
came to 1100 candy filled eggs. That's the most
ever, to my knowledge, here at New Hope to the
delight of the children. My sincere gratitude goes
to the church for your generous candy donations
as well as the continued support of the children's
programs. Thank you to each volunteer that of-
fered their time and assistance with the egg hunt
as well as the wonderful Easter breakfast. Every-
thing was so beautiful and such an enormous suc-
cess. On behalf of all the children, "THANK
YOU!" from the bottom of our hearts..
Anthony Henderson P.S. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures for the young folks of New Hope!

May at New Hope
New Hope Bags It's time, again to begin gathering the needed items for the New Hope Bags. Next to the area where bags are picked up, you will find a poster with paper tags that have the needed items listed on them. Select a tag or two, take it with you and make the necessary purchases, Return the purchased items to the church as quickly as you can. New bags will be made when all needed items have been col-lected. Thank you in advance for any and all assistance that you provide in helping to nurture the homeless population of our community.
