The Manor House is a fabulous, seven-bedroom home ideal for weddings, “gals weekends,” family reunions, business

retreats and of course those great “golf getaways.” The house will very comfortably accommodate

14 people and can easily accommodate more.A country style kitchen, formal dining room,

spacious living room plus seven spacious and individually decorated guest rooms offer a private

space for your event or getaway to be something special and unique. The kitchen patio overlooking the South Thompson River is a popular place for picnics and barbecues. Relax in the private five-person hot tub, soak up the peaceful surroundings and listen to the gentle chirping of the chickadees.

The great room is a spacious living area with a kitchen overlooking the river. It features comfy leath-er furniture, a corner fireplace, built-in sound system,

55-inch HDTV and doors to the furnished patios with gas BBQ and private hot tub. The Manor House offers complimentary wireless Internet, available in its own business centre. We have also added a washer and dryer in the mud room of the house (so the guys don’t need to come home with dirty laundry).

Check out the guest comments on Tripadvisor.com and see why other people think the South Thompson Inn is the best place to stay while in Kamloops.

Fully renovated, ready For actionKaMloops GolF and counTry club

The oldest golf course in Kamloops is now the newest! A full renovation in 2010 has made this golfer-

friendly 18-hole course better than ever. The changes, all done to USGA specifica-

tions, include: new bent grass greens, fairways and tee boxes, new sand traps, two new (rerouted) par 3 holes in the back nine, an extended driving range, renovated pro shop, new golf carts, and a new outdoor patio. The member-owned course, which is available for non-member play, has four sets of tee boxes (6,650 yards to 5,425 yards).

Whether you want to challenge yourself or play the gentle giant from the forward tees, the course has the right boxes for you. The

mature tree-lined course has plenty of shade on a summer day and is the easiest walking full-length 18-hole course in the region.

From its fully equipped pro shop (man-aged by CPGA pro Harold Simkins, who is available for lessons and club fittings) to the fully licenced clubhouse, you can enjoy classic “country club” atmosphere.

Membership options include limited and full play, just call the club to learn more. The new Player’s Card for 2012 will offer an opportunity to experience the club while saving money on repeat play.

Check out the course’s new web site at www.kamloopsgolfclub.com for all the details, great photos of the changes and contact information.

Eaglepoint Golf Course was built in 1991 through a thick stand of Pines creating a world of its own as each hole was played. Now that the ma-jority of trees are gone due to a Pine Beetle infesta-tion, golfers are treated to open rolling terrain and fantastic views at every turn. Shot making is still a critical component of the game as the new owner, Dennis Hong, has introduced native Fescues to areas that were once bare or treed. Thus, there is always a demand on shot making. Each hole is unique giving the golfer a moment to pause and re-flect on the task at hand or what was. The strength and signature of the golf course are the four par threes. With four sets of tees, Eaglepoint Golf Resort is fun and a challenge for all levels of golfers.

One of our best features is the Club-house and patio. It is a great place to reflect and talk about your round while taking in the surrounding scenery or while watching golfers negotiate the tricky slopes on the 18th green. With room to seat 185 people in-side and on the patio we can accommodate all sizes of tournaments, outings and functions. No group is too small or big.

It is a new season and we would like to announce that we have a brand new Management team. Brett Martin is now our Pro Shop and Events Manager. Brett comes to us from Aberdeen Hills Golf Links which sadly has closed its doors. All those who know Brett would agree that we are lucky to have a person of his character on our team. Two other new faces in the clubhouse are Tracee Brewer our Food and Beverage Manager and Chef Len Aalten. Tracee brings her vast experience and friendly at-titude to our golfing community, while Len brings his creativity to please the wide variety of tastes that are present at a golf course. Superintendent Ian

Eggleton has been promoted to General Manager to oversee operations. Ian has been with Eagle-point for three seasons and is dedicated to bringing a challenging and pleasurable experience for the members and public.

During the winter months there wasn’t much time to rest. We were busy renovating the kitch-en by tiling the floor and replacing a few outdated pieces of equipment. We have created a new web-site at (www.eaglepointgolfresort.com). On the site, members and public can use the online booking engine. Two weeks advanced booking for members

and seven days for the public. Currently we are in the middle of building a new short game

area, which will consist of a green, bunker and a variety of lies. The layout provides each golfer with a variety of situations that are found on our golf course’s natu-

ral rolling terrain. New in the clubhouse is a 52 inch LED Television, which is going

to be raffled off at the end of the year with pro-ceeds going to our fledgling Junior Program

Our Pro Shop has its new line of 2012 products and apparel in stock. We are now a fitting centre for Callaway, so come up for our first demo day May 8th to try the new Callaway products, or come to the Pro Shop and take a set of our demos on the course to see if they are right for you.Men’s night is on Tuesday, Seniors on Wednesday morning, Juniors are on Wednesday afternoon and Ladies on Thursday. Each club is growing in popularity. These events are played once a week in a social and semi-competitive atmosphere. Check out our web-site for rates and dates.

Lastly we would like to welcome back all the members from last year and all our new members. Thank- you for supporting us in our endeavour to become Kamloops’ fastest growing Golf Course.

For many golfers, playing a vintage layout that oozes with character is the ultimate golf

experience. If classy, time-tested courses are your “thing,” you will love the Revelstoke Golf Club.

The layout is highlighted by a number of holes that curl alongside the smooth-flowing waters of the Columbia River.

This par-72, 6,537-yard champion-ship layout provides an excellent golfing challenge, and with its spectacular setting you’ll want to play and enjoy again and again.

This beautiful riverside golf

course — conveniently located just minutes off the Trans-Canada Highway — dates back to the early 1920s and offers a classic clubhouse that dates back even further.

Despite the history, however, the perfectly peaceful atmosphere just never gets old. The Revelstoke Golf Club is, for good reason, considered one of the top courses in the North Okanagan and the Kootenay Rockies.

The historic clubhouse features a full service shop, and the Eatery on the Green, Restaurant & Patio is an ideal place for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or to

relax following a round of golf. Enjoy the spacious patio with

spectacular views of the golf course and the surrounding mountain vistas.

When you’re not enjoying the fabulous course there is much to do in Revelstoke as well. The

community is nestled high in the Monashee Mountains, adjacent to Mount Revelstoke National park and close to Glacier National park.

Revelstoke, a yearround playground, has some of the most spectacular scenery in all of B.C.

STAFF at Shuswap Lake Estates Golf and Country Club are excited about the start of the 2012 golf season.

The golf course has wintered very well under the supervision of course superintendent Jennifer Rozek and her grounds staff.

The golf season began about a week behind the average season start date. The extra week of prepara-tion time gave staff an opportunity to fine tune the look of the renovated and expanded Pro Shop.

With the new highway expansion, golf-ers exit coming from the east and west via Fairway Hills Drive. Follow the signs to the Clubhouse and Pro Shop to get ready for your enjoyable day on the links.

The course measures 6,467 yards from the back blue tee markers, 6,095 yards from the whites and 5,474 from the reds. All at a par of 71, a very enjoyable golf game awaits all levels of play.

Shuswap Lake Estates is a full service golf

facility complete with driving range and large clubhouse and banquet rooms — great for large groups or tournaments.

If commuting by boat on Shuswap Lake, feel free to dock at Bay Side Marina and Grill, and staff will pick your group up and return you to the marina after your round of golf.

Please contact the Pro Shop prior to the day of play, (250) 675-2315, to reserve our boat slip and to make arrangements for your arrival.

The Golf Academy at Shuswap Lake Estates is always in full swing. Choose from a number of programs offered by CPGA head golf professional Brian O’Keefe and fine tune your game to be the best golfer you can be.

The Junior Camps in July are popular for children visiting the area, or just a fun activity for a summer vacation. O’Keefe has 25 years experience as a golf instructor and is highly respected by all his students.

Check out our website at www.shuswa-pLakeestates.com for more information.

Shuswap Lake Estates is one of the coziest golf community venues in all of B.C., and it’s always affordable. Gorgeous golf living at a fair market price — the secret is out. The course is so enjoyable to play. Check it out, be a part of it.

Located only 40 minutes northeast of Kamloops, Sun Peaks is B.C.’s second largest all-season mountain resort. But

the Sun Peaks’ mountains aren’t just meant for snow. The resort takes on an entirely different range of activity in the summer, including a unique and challenging golf course.

The 18-hole, par 72 Graham Cooke-designed course winds along the valley bottom in between the soaring three-mountain skyline of Tod, Sundance and Mt. Morrisey. New golfers are able to reach the greens in a few shots while more experienced players are challenged with many existing hazards that will require careful planning before swinging.

The front nine range from the short 122 yard par 3 7th hole to the difficult, uphill 500 yard 6th. The front nine requires delicate accuracy due to the narrow fairways. Some even suggest keeping the driver in the bag and pulling out the irons!

The back nine are a terrific complement to the

challenges of the front. More open, more forgiving, and for most, more opportunities for lower scoring.

The 12th hole is the back nine’s most difficult, with a dogleg to the right that requires an accurate shot from the tee fol-lowed by another good approach shot.

And a little elevation goes a long way. At 1,200 metres, the 6,400 yard course is the highest elevated course in British Columbia which means your ball flies a little bit further through the air. It also means Sun Peaks is often a comfortable 10 degrees cooler than the city.

Sun Peaks Resort is ideal for golfers travelling with family or friends with varied interests. New this summer, kids 16 and under golf free with a paying adult when combined with a Sun Peaks hotel package. Every weekend there are festivals as well as other sporting activities to choose from.

The Sun Peaks Golf Course opens June 1. www.SunPeaksResort.com.

Need to know the intricate technical details of your golf stroke? The

high-tech golf simulation system at Legends Indoor Golf can help.

Owner Dave Burrows says the simulator uses cameras that track every shot. The computational system analyses things like speed of the ball at club impact, and can tell the angle of the club face as it strikes the ball.

All the important launch param-eters are tracked, he says, enabling golfers to better figure out what is happening with their swing, and what they may be doing right or wrong.

Burrows says swing analysis is complemented by custom club

fitting. The two services together can dramatically improve a golfer’s game.

Performance will improve on outdoor courses after a few sessions with the indoor simulator.

Legends Indoor Golf is the perfect place to enjoy golf year around, relax after work, enjoy an evening of golf with friends, join a golf league, host that unique customer apprecia-tion lunch or corporate event.

The state-of-the-art facility includes six simulators, a pro shop with repair and customized club fitting services, (including re-gripping, repair or customizing of shafts), clothing and accessories, food service, licensed area and reception area.

On the sunny bluffs and shorelines of Kam-loops Lake rests the spectacular Tobiano Golf Course. It is a lush oasis surrounded

by arroyos, sand dunes, cacti and sagebrush. Designed by respected course architect Thomas McBroom – Tobiano established itself as one of Canada's premiere championship golf courses right from its creation.

In 2008, it was named the best new golf course in Canada. This marked the beginning of the course receiving numerous awards and recogni-tions, including ScoreGolf 's 2011 best public course and being 16th in the national ranking of Canada's top private and public golf courses.

Located 20 minutes from downtown Kamloops, Tobiano offers an unforgettable experience. The 18-hole golf course is as visually captivating as it is thrilling to play. With five par fives, eight par fours and five par threes, Tobiano inspires the shot-maker in each player – from the dramatic first tee to the undulating 18th green.

The par-72 course is further complimented by an extensive practice facility, including a 450-yard

double-ended range featuring nine bent grass target greens, a white silica bunker-lined chipping green and two course-inspired putting greens.

The Academy at Tobiano is also something to take notice of. Its 2012 objectives include introducing, improving and maintaining the game of golf for all guests and residents of Tobiano, whatever their skill level, as well as a focus on junior golf coaching.

“Beginning golf education at a young age is good for many reasons,” says Stephen Connor, one of Tobiano’s golf professionals.

“It provides boys and girls the opportunity

for self-expression, plus, golf is a great teacher of self-reliance and self-discipline. Our program encourages proper technique, etiquette, rules, sportsmanship, and most importantly, fun.”

Connor is proud to be part of the 2012 team consisting almost entirely of staff recruited from the Kamloops area, including George Moutsos, executive chef of the Black Iron restaurant.

Moutsos, whose impressive resume includes The Fairmont Mayakoba and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, has created a menu which blends the finest Mediterranean, Mexican, and Latin influences. His menu is delighting golfers and attracting local residents from miles around.

“Using fresh local ingredients, I have worked hard to develop a menu that ranges from healthy and hearty breakfast options to contemporary appetizers, to an array of patio fare, to a wide selection of west coast culinary dinner entrees,” says Moutsos. “My goal was to develop a din-ing experience that matches that matches the incredible on-course experience of Tobiano.”

Canoe Creek is Kelowna’s own Dave Barr’s first signature course and is known throughout the golf world for its outstand-

ing conditions and immaculate greens. In 2012 the course was voted the “Best Conditioned Destination Golf Course in the Okanagan“ by BC Golf Guide.

Now in its fifth full season, Canoe Creek has grown into one of the “must play” courses in the Okanagan.

Canoe Creek’s unique design brings a bit of the British Isles into the heart of the Shuswap, offering more than 7,000 yards of open fields, grass-faced bunkers, extremely playable greens and striking water features. And don’t forget about those many “pot-hole” bunkers.

The course offers a new look to the Shuswap golf

scene, and a rewarding golf experience. The course features creeks, waterfalls, fountains and natural marshes, with fescue defining many of the fairways. Canoe Creek offers a traditional look with a modern approach. The unique layout allows golfers to hit the driver off the tee in some situations, while a more conservative club selection is required in others. Pot bunkers are scattered strategically throughout the golf course. Simply avoiding them is the best option!

Greens are open, accessible and receptive to approach shots. Subtle undulations add to the challenge of negotiating these spectacular greens, and while the course will challenge even the most skilled golfers, it’s also a perfect place for beginners and novices to learn and perfect their game.

Both the Pro Shop and Barr’s Bistro reflect the same attention to detail and dedication to quality that makes Canoe Creek an unparal-leled course with unsurpassed amenities.

Visitors can expect to enjoy the hospitality and the best guest service on the fully licensed patios and indoor seating areas, as well as the convenience of the expanded and easily accessible practice areas. From the superb condition of the course itself to the outstanding guest service offered by the welcoming friendly professional staff, guests are sure to find Canoe Creek exceeds all expectations.

Go to canoecreekgolf.com and check out the new fly over feature and listen to our Head pro Jesse give you a few tips on how to play each hole.

The Dunes at Kamloops has long been known as a

golfer’s paradise, and with one look at the Graham Cooke designed course, there’s no doubt as to why.

The natural sands have been shaped into an extraordinary golf course, and both seasoned players and those new to the sport can appreciate the views of lush fairways carving effortlessly through the sand, each leading to meticulously kept greens surrounded by wild fescue and wheat grass.

Now the stunning course, named the 2005 BCPGA Facility of the Year, has an equally outstanding clubhouse and restaurant, open for its first full season, with hours of operation from 6:30 a.m. through evening dinner service.

The nearly 20,000 square foot space is complete with a contemporary, stylish and inviting family restaurant, a 200-seat ballroom and, what CPGA director of golf Bill Bilton Jr. calls “the nicest patio in Kamloops.”

That patio is 200 feet long and looks over the 18th green.

The restaurant will remain open year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the banquet room is already avail-able for booking. So far, the reception to the space has been incredible.

“It speaks to the need for a venue of this size, but also the windows and the sound system have really been attracting clients,” says Bilton.

For more information on weddings, banquets, anniversaries, meetings or any special event, please call The Dunes at 250-579-3300, or email [email protected].
