The last month has been quiet for the club members as there are no reports of any events. A few of the local Dubbo members supported the Dad's for kids day, at the Dubbo Showgrounds, on 3rd May 2015. There are a couple of events in the next few months so check out the What's On Section in this Newsletter!

Next Meeting: Monday May 25th, 2015, 7.30pm. Aero Club. Dubbo Airport. Narromine Road. Dubbo.

I am always looking for things of interest, so contact me to have it included in your club's newsletter.

Check out what is happening at www.goldenoldiestruckclub.com

Please take some time to view the new format and feel free to comment on ideas to make your club's website better. I will be trying to update the site on a regular basis so if there is anything of interest you would like put up, let me know! Previous newsletters and piccies of "runs" will be uploaded when I find the time.

A new Vehicle Movement Log has been produced and will be sent out with each registration renewal. Please return old "Club Log Book" at time of renewal to Club Registrar. Jon

General Business: 1. Letter from Australia Post outlining the changes to our mail system. No longer can we expect next day delivery of

mail with regular postage applied. Quicker delivery will now incur an extra charge. Therefore ALL of our mail will

be sent to Sydney for sorting, then dispersed to relevant areas for delivery. This could mean up to 4 days for our

local delivery items. In view of these changes, Rosalie proposed that our Bulletin now be ready for posting by 16th

of each month, allowing for the 4 days, our club magazine should be delivered by early 20th..? of each month.

We also have to recognise the fact that people are also working, or have other commitments in their life, and the

huge amount of time involved in putting all these things into place is done by people who are volunteering their

time & effort for no pay, & usually no special recognition. Therefore, items for publishing that are not received in

time for the magazine to go to print will just have to wait till the next month.

2. Mick Street gave a verbal report on his trip to Armidale to attend Council of Heritage Motor Clubs (formerly

known as The Bush Council). In his opinion there is lots to be done in clarifying the Rules & Regs relating to

heritage & restored motor vehicles, and lots of grey areas open to several interpretations. He was a bit unhappy

with some aspects of events. He will endeavour to make the necessary contacts and get some of these areas

clarified. He is having trouble contacting other committee members. He also noted that there are about 600

Heritage vehicle clubs on the books, but only 200 of them are affiliated with CHMC . Therefore, there are 400

Clubs getting the benefits from this club, without spending any money. Have we wasted our money? One thing

that has come to light is regarding who can drive a Heritage Registered vehicle. The operator (driver) must be

a member of a registered affiliated club. There is also a move to do a “stock take” of vehicles out there, both

restored, & projects waiting to be restored etc. Possibly to take to the Government to show there is a huge

interest in this field, and perhaps some type of assistance and/or grants available for same. It would also be of

interest to know just what is out there. He tendered his expenses sheet for payment $411.42. Passed for

payment. He also requested that a copy of our newsletter be sent to CHMC.

3. Paperwork has been received for our Insurance from Arthur J Gallagher. Will now get quote for our Public

Liability. We will only need a minimum cover for this year. No show.

4. Received an Invitation from Golden West Holden Owners Club for us to attend Rockin in the Vines to be held at

Lazy River Estate on Sunday 3/5/15.

5. Brian has spoken to David Page from Lightning Ridge. He is going to make an application to join our club, as his

primary club.

6. Thank You received from Alan Cusak for allowing him to join in with us on our Wellington Mystery Run. When we

are doing another run, he would like to join in with us again.

7. Letter & photo from Jason McGee requesting help in identifying his Dodge Pickup – year of manufacture, model

etc.

8. Our Acting Treasurer is now signed up and all is well.

9. Mick Street drew our attention to an Article which has been printed in the last newsletter regarding the

registration & use of heritage motor vehicles. For further info check out the RMS Website.

10. Jon & Nathan Mancer spoke about the good run they had Haulin’ the Hume. It was VERY WET. They enjoyed the

experience, and a good time was had by all, had 300 odd entrants in the run. All went very well. Looking forward

to doing it all again next time.

11. We have had an enquiry re attending Lightning Ridge and participating in their parade next year. It couldn’t be

done this year as the notice was too short, and paperwork was not forthcoming until too late. Brian is going to

the Ridge this coming weekend, and will talk to Chuck Peters re this idea. Will need to know about

accommodation etc.

12. Graham Barker spoke about his trip to Maitland. Generally disappointing and numbers were well down on last

years.

13. Brian Little spoke about his trip to Kyabram. This was a great event and very much enjoyed.

14. Noma had an enquiry from George White who makes model Trucks and would like to display at our next Truck

Show in 2016. Would need to be able to display models in a secure manner so as they cannot be touched. He

will need to talk to us closer to the event.

15. Shannon's Insurance, by way of Robert Shannon Foundation, is providing a grant to encourage young people

(under 30 yrs old) who are interested in the restoration of old or heritage vehicles. Applications are invited. It

was suggested, and passed, that GOTC nominate Nathan Mancer for this grant. We will fill in the necessary

paperwork for same.

16. Don’t forget – DADS FOR KIDS is on at Dubbo Showground on Sunday 3/5/15. 10 am till 2pm.

Social Events to be organised: Noted that our 10th

year Anniversary will be next year. Maybe we will do

something to celebrate this, and acknowledge the man whose idea this was in the beginning.

Raffle won by: Warwick Sheil Green Ticket No B22

Meeting Closed: 9.00 pm This was followed by a cuppa and a slide show of Haulin the Hume, Maitland &

Kyabram trips.

Next Meeting: Monday 25th

May, 2015

PS: Mick was able to meet up with the President of CHMC as he was in Dubbo last Thursday, and was able to

have some discussions with him. Mick will table a report on this informal chat at our next meeting in May.

Big Thanks to our Sponsors

We would like to thank our sponsors for the assistance they gave us before and during our last show.

Without them it would make it very difficult to cover all the expenses incured in holding this growing event.

Keep these business in mind when you make your next transactions:-
