The Feast of PassoverWe celebrate the

Ressurection of Christ as “Easter”

But Passover is the Bibical name of our Easter Celebration

Why we should study the Feasts of Israel?

Psa 89:15 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are the people who know the joyful sound [who understand and appreciate the spiritual blessings symbolized by the feasts]; they walk, O Lord, in the light and favor of Your countenance!

1Co 5:7 …. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:

What does Passover mean? “Pesach” Translated Passover means a Passing over.

“Gods people are safe under the Blood of the Lamb”

GodsgG

The Feast of PassoverPassover was Intiated as God’s method of Protection from the final Judgement on Egypt. It was to be forever celebrated afterwards.

Exo 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. Exo 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. Exo 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.

GodsgG

The Feast of PassoverWe are to keep this ordinance Forever because it was a picture of the Blood of Jesus!

Heb 9:20 He said, "This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”

1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

God had judged all the Eqyptian Gods in the other nine Judgements against Eqypt and had spared the Israelites in the land of Goshen. The Israelites weren't required to do anything.

Exo 8:22 But on that day I will sever and set apart the land of Goshen in which My people dwell, that no swarms [of gadflies] shall be there, so that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth. Exo 8:23 And I will put a division and a sign of deliverance between My people and your people. By tomorrow shall this sign be in evidence.

Goshen-meams approaching; drawing near This is a picture of Gods people drawing near to him through the Blood of the Lamb. Goshen was protected. We are protected as we live in a place of “Drawing near” unto the Lord through his Blood.

Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Psa 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. Psa 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water

1st Plague: Water Changed To Blood (Exo. 7:14-25)The Egyptian god khnum was the guardian of the Nile River

2ndPlague: Frogs (Exo. 8:1-15)The frog was considered the theophany of the goddess Heqt, the wife of the creator of the world and the goddess of birth. Heqt was always shown with the head and body of a frog.

3rd Plague: Lice (Exo. 8:16-19)This plague would have been an embarrassment to geb, the Egyptian god of the earth. Egyptians gave offerings to geb for the bounty of the soil

4thPlague: Swarms of flies (Exo. 8:20-32)scholars believe this "swarm" was of the blood-sucking gadfly, which was responsible for a lot of blindness in the land.

Lets look at the nine Judgements that fell on Eqypt before the Final Judgement. Egypt-means that troubles or oppresses; anguish

Exo 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

Passover5th Plague: Livestock Diseased (Exo. 9:1-7)The Egyptians worshiped many animals, and many animal-headed deities. The god apis was represented as a bull, and had been worshipped in Egypt since around 3,000 B.C.

6th Plague: Boils (Exo. 9:8-12)This medical malady was also an affront to imhotep, the Egyptian god of medicine

7th Plague: Hail (Exo. 9:13-35) Since this plague originated from the sky, it would have been an insult to Nut, the sky goddess. "Her most general appearance, however, is that of a woman resting on hands and feet, her body forming an arch, thus representing the sky.

Eighth Plague: Locusts (Exo. 10:1-20)Where was nepri, the god of grain? Where was Ermutet, the Egyptian goddess of childbirth and crops? isis is silent once again. thermuthis, the goddess of fertility and the harvest was speechless. seth, another god of crops, was also mute.

Passover9th Plague: Darkness (Exo. 10:21-29)The Egyptian sun god amon-ra was considered one of the greatest blessings in all of the land of Egypt.

Tenth Plague: Death Of The Firstborn (Exo. 11:1-12:30)This plague was directed against "all of the gods of Egypt" (Exo. 12:12) and would show the total inability of the gods of Egypt to protect their subjects. In the face of unparalleled tragedy, "all of the gods of Egypt" were silent. Where was meskhenet, the Egyptian goddess who presided at the birth of children? Where was hathor, one of the seven deities who attended the birth of children? Where was min, the god of procreation? Where was isis, the goddess of fertility? Where was selket, the guardian of life? Where was renenutet, the cobra-goddess and guardian of Pharaoh?

On this final Judgement on Eqypt God required the Israelites and all who would obey his Word to apply the "Blood of the Lamb" to their doorposts of their houses. At midnighgt the death angel would pass through the land and every house whether Jewish or Eqyptian that did not have Blood on the doorposts of their Houses would be struck by the death angel and the firstborn would die of man or beast.

Exo 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment [proving their helplessness]. I am the Lord. Exo 12:13 The blood shall be for a token or sign to you upon [the doorposts of] the houses where you are, [that] when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt. [I Cor. 5:7; Heb. 11:28.] Exo 12:14 And this day shall be to you for a memorial. You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations, keep it as an ordinance forever.
