From Your Rector:

Beloved,

We have entered the phase in the life of the church known as the "summer

slump." As people travel and recreate, church attendance declines and as a result,

so does church income. In response to the attendance decline we have a single

service each Sunday at 10:00a.m. during the month of July. This year two Sundays

will have music like 11:00a.m. and two will not, like 9:00a.m. This helps provide a

"critical mass' for worship, but not for income. I ask you to be thoughtful about

this problem by keeping your pledge and gifts to the church as current as possi-

ble.

Melissa and I will be on vacation the month of July. The out of town part will be

abbreviated because of responsibilities for Melissa's mother’s recovery from very

serious injuries sustained in an automobile accident. We are thankful for the

prayers of the parish for Elise Grabe and ask that they continue through a chal-

lenging recovery process.

In Christ,

Top 10 Reasons to be an Episcopalian/Anglican

(from the comedian Robin Williams, who is an Episcopalian, on an HBO special)

10. No snake handling. 9. You can believe in dinosaurs. 8. Male and female God created them; male and female we ordain them. 7. You don't have to check your brains at the door. 6. Pew aerobics. 5. Church year is color-coded. 4. Free wine on Sunday. 3. All of the pageantry - none of the guilt. 2. You don't have to know how to swim to get baptized.

And the # 1 reason to be an Episcopalian: 1. No matter what you believe, there's bound to be at least one other Episcopalian who agrees with you!
