FROM PASTOR CRAIG
Bless Team: Sunset Valley Elementary Thanks to everyone who provided hot dogs for the SSV Student Council fundraiser. We brought so many they were able to freeze enough to provide food for two other events this month! And thanks to all who brought the wonderful goodies for Teacher Appreciation Week. Last week at the Austin Partners in Education year-end celebration we were named the Volunteer Group of the Year and an outstanding
community partner for SSV. It was sweet of them to recognize us in that way, but let’s remember that they are the hard-working heroes that are changing lives and a community. We simply have the honor of coming along side and helping where we can. We are blessed! And we are blessing! Bless Team: Austin Children’s Shelter Many of you were at the Bless Team report a couple of weeks ago and heard about our new partnership with the Austin Children’s Shelter. Our next meeting will be Wednesday night May 23rd at 7:30 in E-115. We want everyone there who signed up to participate in any of our first-step ministries (Book Club, Basketball, Board Games, Aftercare). In addition, we would like for anyone who is interested in helping us get started in our work there to come too – especially if you weren’t able to make the last meeting. Janis Gernert will be with us again to show each group how to set a date, get on campus, etc, so we can start our ministries in June. Then as those groups make plans to get started she will brainstorm with the aftercare group to discuss the best way to build those relationships and start that one-on-one ministry. I know that it will require some to leave their Wednesday night activities a bit early (or some to be late to the meeting – no problem) but it will be well worth our time and we will be done by 8:30. Mark down the date and join us if you have any interest in serving at ACS. We are blessed! And we are blessing! Bless Your Hearts! Craig

Disciple Now was a great weekend! Thank you for all the support and prayers. We had around 60 people involved in the weekend. The tentative date for Disciple Now 2013 is February 8-10, so put it on your calendars. We are now gearing up for Camp (July 9-13) and Beach Trip (June 11-14). Please be specifically praying for Camp that students will encounter God that week at Highland Lakes. Also at the end of this month we are having Crud Fest on May 30th at 7pm. Crud
Fest is an all out food-fight. Bring your favorite goodies for a great and messy night!

We want to remind you of some really special events that are coming up soon!
Sunday, May 20, is the Senior Sunday where we will sing the songs of our heritage, as well as our seniors leading out in songs, prayer and all the elements of the service. The morning will be topped off with an amazing sermon from our very own Norris Smith! This will be a great time so make plans to be there. There will be no 8:30 am service – so come at 10:45 am!
Another exciting ministry opportunity that we have launched is the Help Team, led by our very own Patrick Jones. In the foyer for the next few weeks there will be a basket with forms for helps that you may need – ranging from light carpentry to plumbing to oil changes. We would love for you to fill out a sheet for a need that you have OR complete a list of something you can do to help serve (lots of opportunities using a variety of skills). Come and chat with Patrick in the foyer about this exciting new ministry.
In Christ, John Berryhill
