FOCUS—BEING THE BEST YOU CAN BE

Service means work done or duty performed for others, the serving of God through good works, an act of giving assistance. Striving means to make great effort, try very hard.

Best means being almost whole, person of highest worth, ability or reputation.

March Madness—it seems like sports sets the spirit and emotions of a college cam-

pus on fire. We are #1, we are #1. If you build a strong program “they will come”.

The athlete, the students, faculty, grants, Nike, Adidas, PowerAde, TV, Radio and

fans will fill the stands, “they will come”. The armed forces will hang around, local

businesses want in and even TECO has a partnership with USF. Coca-Cola still says

they are the real thing and Pepsi is saying no, no “we are the chosen generation”.

What happen to NEHI, RC Cola, Canada Dry Crush and real moon pies (ask your par-

ents, grandparents)? But, as I look at this year’s March Madness men and women

teams, with many of them I’m not very impressed even though they are winning.

We had an old saying when I played ball, practice makes perfect. You had to make

layups. If you didn’t you immediately made sit ups on the bench and don’t mention

free throws. IT IS A FREE SHOT and bad passes, well that’s enough on that. Let me

give you a few points we can use from March Madness church.

1. Have a great spirit. (Rom. 12:11, Eph. 3:16, Eph. 5:18)

2. Be the best you can be with the ability God gave you. (Rom. 15:30, 1 Tim. 1:5)

3. Others are watching you. (2 Cor. 3:2, Eph. 6:4)

4. Build a strong foundation on the word; help members to survive and thrive;

other Christians and the sinners will come. (1 Pet. 2:2, 2 Pet. 3:18, 2 Thes. 1:3)

5. KEEP IT REAL, because we are the chosen generation - keep it up do not lose

ground. (Phil. 2:3, 1 Pet. 2:9)

6. Practice, Practice, Practice what you preach and teach.

7. Lay ups and free throws are easy things like Sunday and Wednesday

attendance, home bible study, prayer time and giving. (Matt. 5:20)

8. Play under control. (Js. 1:19, Eph. 6:11,27)

9. Do it all in love (we got this). (Jn. 13:34-35, 1 Jn. 3:18, 1 Jn. 4:11)

10. Build a team for tomorrow (doing great). (Gen. 18:19, Duet. 4:9,

Prov. 4:1-13, Eph. 6:4)

11. Work as a team (doing great). (Jn. 17:21-22, 2 Cor. 5:17-20)

12. Give God the glory (amen). (Matt. 5:16, Jn. 15:8, 1 Pet. 4:16)

Take a minute and check off the one’s you got down and work on the others. Catch

the spirit—IT’S MARCH MADNESS BABY. You need help, ask the Elders, Preachers

and Deacons.

Keith’s Kitchen…

Keith’s Kitchen is an op-

portunity to support our

work in Honduras. Each

Wednesday at 6:15PM

Keith prepares a deli-

cious meal. The teens help with the

dessert, drinks and clean-up. All

proceeds go to the accounts of stu-

dents who help. There is no set fee

but your generous checks should be

made to Tampa Youth Missions.

Dessert this week is Boyer, Lally,

Nizol.

Golden Heirs Ministry…

goal is to help meet their physical,

spiritual, emotional, and mental

needs as according to James 1:27. If

you are interested in serving on the

committee, come to today’s meeting

at 4:00. For questions please see

Pam Williams.
