Myth 1: Goa is Small Travel from Mumbai /
Bengaluru to the Region on the right is difficult
Access from Goa is easier STV Goa News was launched
for Goa but had widespread audience & reporting in these areas
Culturally & Socially too this Region has remarkable similarities

Myth 2: Small Population Goa - 14,00,000+ Ratnagiri - 16,96,777+ Kolhapur - 12,27,547+ Solapur - 38,49,543+ Belgaum - 42,14,505+ Hubli - 8,40,214+ Dharwad - 7,00,000+ Karwar - 1,00,000+ Mangalore - 4,00,000+ The above are mostly Urban

Myth 3: No Common Market NamMa TV is a Cable based Television Channel clocking
highest viewer-ship in Coastal Karnataka
Konkan TV is a Web Based YouTube like Internet TV with a good recall value
STV Goa News is the most successful model nearer home that a dedicated viewer-ship even as against established Marathi Channels in Maharashtra and Kannada Channels in Karnataka purely because of its local reporting approach

Myth 4: Local, not Regional TV North Goa is consolidated under One Cable Network while South Goa
has two Networks. Similarly Konkan has seen seen numerous M&A which has created large size Cable Networks owned by Hathway, IN & DEN.
According to Media Partners Asia, Cable TV penetration in India will go up from 62 % in 2007 to 65.4 % in 2010 and revenue will shoot up from $ 5.1billion in 2007 to $ 7.7 billion in 2010
NamMa TV, Coastal Karnataka’s biggest TV Channel is Cable based and can be accessed in most Urban TV Homes
Konkan TV, is an Internet TV watched worldwide for local snippets and events on Konkan
Even Goa has 3 Channels broadcasting round-the-clock programming. Proof that these Channels can traverse cross regional cable TV networks.

Myth 5: Satellite TV? I’m-possible The Region has no possibility/need for a Satellite Channel as Konkan
Region is 60% rural A TAM Media Research states that the switch to DTH services provided
viewers 43 channels more than cable TV services. What's surprising, however, is that the survey found that penetration of digital services in rural areas is four times higher than in the urban areas of the country
Mostly, inaccessible terrain would delay cable based broadband hence DTH & its Cheaper version
Broadband based Cable in Urban will access Satellite Channels through Internet TV also besides the bouquet offered
Satellite TV has the advantage of reaching the Expats from Maharashtra, Karnataka (Ranked 3,4 in Emigrants abroad) as well as Goans

Myth 6: TV Tech is Expensive! Case 1: IPT Suitcase (40 kgs / 50
lakhs) on the Right can be used for live transmission instead of an OB Van (3 tons / 1.50+ cr )
Case 2: Laptops (15K) + Handycams (12K) + Broadband (2K@2Mbps / mth) for faster news gathering
Case 3: Remote + Single Window News Production & Management of quick, slick news as seen on the Right

Myth 7: News 24? Sustainable Mathematics 1 - 1 News = 3 min, 1 Hour / Newscast = 19 News, 1
Day = 12 Newscast (Fresh rest Repeats) = 200 Approx News
Mathematics 2 - 200 News / 10 Cities + Adjoining Regions = 20 News…POSSIBLE ;)
News by definition is what is NEW (thanks to extensive coverage / reporters everywhere); is UNUSUAL (smart television thanks to a stolid newsroom); is INTERESTING (TV news has to hold attention with formats, graphics & content….possible but not tried out); is SIGNIFICANT & is ABOUT PEOPLE (there is an absence of TV that talks about the people around us and what they aspire / suffer)

Myth 8: Where is the Content? Tiatr, Jatras, Goan / North & Coastal Canara Folk Art, Konkan

Travelogues, Interviews, Chats, Opinion based Programmes, Target Audience
All formats in English / Konkani / Marathi / Kannada

Slots / Day Minutes / Day Spots / Day
24 12 24 120 720
Amt / Spot Earn / Day Earn / Year140 100800 36792000

Myth 9: Xpensive Biz, No Returns Mathematics of Expenditure - Space Selling or Revenue
Sharing of Scrolls etc with Cable TV Networks to reduce hosting costs, DTH hosting Costs have reduced, Technology can be leased instead of outright purchase
Mathematics of Returns - Selling Programme Space, DTH Operators to share revenue as a part of bouquet, Selling thru’ Media Selling Outfits, Content Syndication and Selling, eCommerce twinning with Website / Internet TV

Myth 10: Experts? People Cost? Multitasking helps cut people cost in Production Lack of Technical Experts, Cheap Technical Expertise -
Sri Lanka, Nepal offers cheaper but more skilled labour at a lesser cost
Outsource Programming Sell Programming Space CTC only for News / Current Affairs / LIVE related
function Channel to safeguard quality control only

working days) or Consultant like BECIL, EsselShyam or MediaGuru (lesser than 75 days)
