24 mph. Trophy rates the cruisingspeed of the 2052 as 25 mph, so wewere close.

The boat’s top speed is listed as 31.5mph, but we were able to hit 32.3 mphduring our test. At wide-open throttle, the tachometer topped out at 4,400 rpm.

At cruising speed, the craft drinksonly 4.4 gph — which means it gets anamazing 5.7 mpg. Even at top speed, the boat still gets 5.4 mpg.

ready when you areWhen it’s time to get down to busi-

ness, you’ll find plenty of fishing fea-tures to satisfy your needs. Forinstance, the two 64 quart fishwellswith drains will leave you plenty ofroom for your catch, so you can stayout on the water longer. The two fish-wells are also easy to clean, so youwon’t have to fuss with them whenyou get back to the dock.

The tournament-class baitwell hasrounded corners and a vortex pumpsystem that improves circulation andhas adjustable aeration. The twin-jetcirculation delivers clean water toboth the top and bottom of the 64quart tank, keeping your bait alivelonger — and there’s even an LEDlight to assist you when fishing atnight.

Four rod holders are located alongthe gunnels and the transom. Extra-high freeboard and coaming pads pro-vide a comfortable and safe surface forfighting or landing big fish.

check the layoutThe 2052’s interior isn’t as Spartan

as many of its competitors, but you’restill not going to go down below andthink you’re at a Ritz-Carlton. (Imaginesomething closer to a Days Inn — witha waterfront view.)

About all you’ll find below is a V-berth, which can be converted into aU-shaped dinette with pedestal tablewhen the filler cushion is removed.A portable head is hidden under-neath one of the settee’s starboardcushions.

The rest of the V-berth area hidesstowage space for other necessities, such as tackle, PFDs and foul-weathergear. No sportfisher is complete with-out rod storage, so you’ll find plenty ofspace for your “weapons of choice.”The cabin door can be locked for secu-rity and privacy.

proof is in the puddingThe team at Trophy is proud of

the 2052’s superior construction. Func-tion dictates form, so every detail hasbeen designed to improve the boat’s “fishability.”

The standard rod racks are linedwith smooth PVC tubes that areunlikely to snag your rod guides orscratch their delicate graphite shafts.PVC tubes are also used to protecthoses and wiring. Chase wires areincluded, which will come in handyif/when you decide to add moreelectronics.

All cleats and fasteners are stainlesssteel. Bow eyes and cleats are fastenedthrough backing plates with stainlesssteel lock nuts and oversized washers, for increased durability. The bow railsare also stainless steel — and custom-fitted to each hull.

There was no shuddering duringour test. The boat felt solid the entiretime.

The Monolithic Stringer Systemprovides much of that strength. Muchlike that of a heavy-duty truck frame, the system has extra-wide, deepshapes that are built in one unifiedpiece, for greater durability andstrength. The stringers and othercomponents are built into the boatwhile it is still in the mold, to ensurethe precise shape of the hull for opti-mal performance.

The one word you may havenoticed popping up repeatedly duringthis boat report is “durability.” Arugged sportfisher has to be able tostand up to the rough weather andangry seas that often accompany thequest for the ultimate catch, and TeamTrophy has made sure the 2052Walkaround is up to the task. go
