Go Light Your World
There is a candle in every soulSome brightly burning some dark and cold
There is a Spirit who brings a fire
Ignites a candle and makes His home
Go Light Your World
So carry your candle run to the darkness
Seek out the hopeless confused and torn
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle and go light your world
Take your candle and go light your world
Go Light Your World
Frustrated brother see how he's tried toLight his own candle some other way
See now your sister she's been robbed and lied to
Still holds a candle without a flame
Go Light Your World
4 So carry your candle run to the darknessSeek out the lonely the tired and wornHold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle and go light your worldTake your candle and go light your world
Go Light Your World
We are a fam'ly whose hearts are blazing
So let's raise our candles and light up the sky
Praying to our Father in the name of Jesus
Make us a beacon in darkest times
Go Light Your World
So carry your candle run to the darknessSeek out the helpless deceived and poor
Hold out your candle for all to see itTake your candle and go light your world
Carry your candle run to the darknessSeek out the hopeless confused and torn
Hold out your candle for all to see itTake your candle and go light your worldTake your candle and go light your worldNone

Collect
The Collect of the Day is a prayer specific to each Sunday. The collects are concise prayers that have been used in the church for more than 1500 years. The invitation to prayer may sometimes be followed with a time for the congregation to offer up their prayers. In this way, the collect collects the prayers of the people. It serves the Gospel and glorifies the Lord by focusing our faith outwardly on the presence and promises of God.
L O Lord, hear my prayer.
C And let my cry come to You.
Collect of the Day
P Heavenly Father, grant Your mercy and grace to Your people in their many and various callings. Give them patience, and strengthen them in their Christian vocation of witness to the world and of service to their neighbor in Christ's name; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Readings From Holy Scripture
Genesis 4:1–10
P The Old Testament Reading is from Genesis, the fourth chapter.
Cain and Abel1Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten a man with the help of the LORD.” 2And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground. 3In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground,
Genesis 4:1–10
4and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, 5but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. 6The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.”
Genesis 4:1–10
8Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. 9Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?” 10And the LORD said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground.
P This is the Word of the Lord.C Thanks be to God.
1 Corinthians 7:17–24
P The Epistle is from 1 Corinthians, the seventh chapter.
Live As You Are Called17Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches. 18Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision.
1 Corinthians 7:17–24
Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision. 19For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God. 20Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called. 21Were you a slave when called? Do not be concerned about it. But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.
1 Corinthians 7:17–24
22For he who was called in the Lord as a slave is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a slave of Christ. 23You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men. 24So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.
P This is the Word of the Lord.
C Thanks be to God.

Mark 7:14–23
P The Holy Gospel according to Saint Mark, the seventh chapter.
C Glory to You, O Lord. What Defiles a Person14And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand: 15There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”
Mark 7:14–23
17And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. 18And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, 19since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
Mark 7:14–23
20And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. 21For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

Catechetical Instruction
As the Head of the Household
should teach
The First Article
CreationI believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean?I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still takes care of them.
The First Article
He also gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and home, wife and children, land, animals, and all I have. He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support this body and life.
The First Article
He defends me against all danger and guards and protects me from all evil. All this He does only out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him.
This is most certainly true.

Our Vocations
The Christian meaning is that God calls us to the different roles that he asks us to play and in which he is active.
What roles has God called you to play?
Offering
The Offering is a time of worship like the hymns and prayers. There are important attitudes that make Christian giving worshipful giving such as first fruits giving, cheerful giving, thoughtful giving, giving in response to God’s blessings, etc. Behind Christian giving is also this crucial understanding–everything that we have is God’s. We merely manage what God already owns.
