Km and a coast line of 34,000 Km, the largest in the world.CLIMATE:-The Philippines is normally ward with abundant rainfall and gentle winds. There are three pronounced seasons: wet to rainy from June to October; cool & dry weather from November to February and dry weather from March to May.POPULATION:-According to the latest official census, Filipinos now numbered 68 millions. Population growth as of 1991 is estimated at 2.7 percent annually and the number is expected to top 75.2 millions by 2000. HOW IS THE MEDICAL EDUCATION IN PHILIPPINES?As Philippines was a colony of the USA for a period of about 50 years, during which the entire education system in Asia was shaped newly, especially in Philippines, it follows the American system of education., The medical course in Philippines is called the MD Program (Doctor of Medicine Program), which is equivalent to that of the USA, Russia, Ukraine and rest of Europe. This MD Program is equivalent to MBBS in the UK, India, Pakistan and other Commonwealth countries as well.2. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE COURSE?Citizen of any country is eligible to study in Philippines as a fee paying student for Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programs.
For Undergraduate Medical Program (MBBS), a student must have HSSC with minimum 50 % of marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.For Graduate (MS, MD) – Undergraduate in Medicine with minimum 50% marks is required, while for Post-Graduate (PhD) Graduate in Medicine is needed.For Engineering and other subjects, schooling equivalent to A-Levels are essential. 11. WHAT IS THE MEDIUM OF TEACHING IN PHILIPPINES ? As we discussed earlier, even a fisher man talks in English in Philippines. Being an American colony for about 50 years, English has become the official language for government, day by day living & in all other affairs in Philippines. All the Universities we represent for the medical stream are having English medium education.
12. HOW IS THE WEATHER THERE?The Climate of the Philippines is tropical. There are 3 main seasons . Firstly, From June to September is considered to be the areas rainy season when showers can frequent be and heavy although they do tend to pass relatively quickly. Secondly, from October to February the climate is cool and dry according to the locals, however the temperature only very rarely drops below 25 degree Celsius. Finally the hot and dry season which runs from March to may when temperatures can sore. Overall the climate is perfect for a holiday in paradise and long hours of sun make this a dream destination. In terms of what to pack it is advised that lighter clothing is taken, shorts and beachwear are of course essential although in the rainy season be prepared for a sharp shower.
13. WHEN ARE THE INTAKES USUALLY?The classes for Medicine Program begin usually by the first week of November, while for other program, there are two intakes (depends on the University and Program), mostly in June and November.

16. WHAT ABOUT THE AVAILABILITY OF OTHER FACILITIES LIKE LAUNDRY, LIBRARY, INTERNET ETC. THERE?All such facilities are available nearby at extra cost, or some part will be provided by GEC.
17.ARE STUDENTS ALLOWED TO COOK THEIR FOOD BY THEMSELVES?Yes, they are; but not mandatorily. Students can cook food themselves but they have to take care of the cooking materials well. Also they cannot use or take materials from the GEC Kitchen. However, GEC would provide them cooking-gas, stove and some utensils; other things must be managed by students themselves.
18. ARE THERE VEGETARIAN FOODS AVAILABLE?Yes, it is there. Though we have students from all over India, Nepal and Shri Lanka, we have to prepare non-vegetarian diet outside of the vegetarian mess compound.
19. IS THERE ANY DRESS CODE FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS?

20. ARE BOOKS AVAILABLE THERE OR WE NEED TO CARRY ALONG WITH US?Some Universities provide the list of recommended books to carry and some books are given there during the session. We suggest that the students carry the books, or can purchase books in Philippines too.
21. IS STIPEND PROVIDED THERE DURING INTERNSHIP PERIOD?No, it is not provided.
22. CAN I DO MY INTERNSHIP FROM MY COUNTRY?Yes, you can, but it also depends on the University applied for; and also the Medical Board of the Country where the students want to do the internships.
23. FOR HOW MANY DAYS IS THE VACATION PERIOD THERE? CAN A STUDENT COME HOME DURING HOLIDAYS?The vacation period is of 6-8 weeks, depending on the batch of student in which admitted. He /She can come between May/August and should inform the University accordingly.
