• Clever technology helps improve effectiveness and efficiency supporting health system performance in the rich and poor countries of the world.

• Strategic wins - empowered patients, personalised medicine, integration of care and improvements in quality and value for money.

• Government savings enable more healthcare to be provided to more people

Ireland looking to the future Irish population has grown since 1970 to 4.2M

Inter-related elements – supportive pillarsCESA Focus is to develop a range of rapid access ambulatory clinics addressing health

challenges faced by older people. Also to conduct ageing clinical research, evolve appropriate care models for community care, train clinicians in these new care protocols.

TRIL Focused on conducting research experiments with real older people in their own homes to understand how technology can enable health & social care in the community & home. TRIL has developed a novel bio-psycho-social cohort data-set & technology platforms to support its researchers.

Silver Tech A network of key players working with government to establish a Test Bed to attract and support MNCs, VCs, SMEs to pilot early product concepts. And in so doing, drive new community based care models for older Irish citizens.

TILDA 10 year programming tracking 8,000 Irish Citizens over 55; tracking, health, social, environmental and economic data. TILDA is cross-referenced to other longitudinal studies. The data is freely available to all; first data-set published.

Health System Due to increasing & unsustainable hospital care costs, the Irish Govt is pushing more healthcare delivery into the Community vs. the Hospital Setting. Some PCTs have been established to evolve the model; the DoH recognize need to develop technology infrastructure to facilitate community care paradigm

What is TRIL?Active collaboration between researchers in academic, clinical and industry setting

Harnesses multidisciplinary ageing research, clinical expertise, and enabling technology development to support independent living

Focused on conducting research experiments with real older people in their own homes to understand how technology can enable health & social care in the community & home.

Underpinned by a process that facilitates the development of research prototypes for home-based research experiments. TRIL platforms enable translation of hospital and lab based research to the home/community.

Provides opportunity to develop existing technical and medical base

Ambitions for TRIL

• Make Ireland a leader in Ageing and Innovation • Deliver excellence in ageing research• Support pipeline for development and evaluation of

technology enabled models of care• Provide a scalable connected living test-bed for

evaluation of 3rd party care models in community setting

• Provide locus for MNC’s/Irish Co’s/Academia and Industry to collaborate and joint problem solve

• Help create opportunities for commercial activity and job creation

• Provide Policy Shaping Expertise from “experience in use”

TRIL Provides

A recognized authority on technology in meeting the ageing challenge

A Global test bed for new technologies and practice
