Me-323 Gigant “Giant”

Military Transport v1.0 A Global War 2nd Edition 3d Printed Expansion © Historical Board Gaming

Overview The Me-323 heavy transport is an incredible German transport aircraft you can add to your arsenal in Global War – 2nd edition. This set introduces rules for air transports which will serve as the basis for future expansions. We also included some units that you can transport in your new aircraft.

Historical Board Gaming’s line of 3D printed sets are designated in rules as “TPD” followed by a letter (TPDA, TPDB etc…) so you rules can be referenced in future expansions. This set is TDPBb – our second edition of this set. Players of Global War 1939 and Axis & Allies 1940 will find modifications needed to play those game systems in the Appendix

TDPB(B) 1.0 : AIR TRANSPORTS 1.1 Air Transport: An air transport can carry 1 infantry-class unit in non-combat movement only. An air transport can move and pick up passengers but must land when it delivers its cargo. An air transport is always chosen last in combat. An air transport may not land on an aircraft carrier. Some air transports may be used to deliver paratroopers in combat movement. Such delivery is subject to ant-aircraft fire and air superiority combat per Global War -2nd Edition rules.

The Me-323 was a large, six-engine military transport developed from the Me-321: an oversized glider designed for the German invasion of Britain. This large transport could carry an 88mm gun, half track or medium tank. The heavy aircraft could take a lot of ground fire and stay airborne however the heavy framed aircraft had a range of only about 500 miles.

APPENDIX A : GLOBAL WAR 1939 / Axis & ALLIES

If you are playing the 1st edition of Global War or Axis & Allies 1940 these rules should be fairly compatible. Since these systems do not have Light Armor, allow them to carry one mechanized infantry instead. TDPB APPENDIX B : STRATEGY NOTES

Me-323: The Me-323’s high transport capacity makes it a great way to ferry troops to reinforce your positions. It has an ability to bring more (and more powerful) units to a fight make it helpful almost anywhere you need them. The Me-323 could reinforce an invasion of England, move troops to North Africa, or solidify your gains in Norway or the USSR. Further information on the Me-323 HERE
