President Jan’s Weekly Words ...
President’s News
I hope all the Dad’s enjoyed their very special day on Sunday.
It was great to hear Zoe Rowntree talk about her experience at RYPEN last week, and lovely to see PP Keith Rowntree again. We have seen Zoe grow up into a wonderful mature person, and wish Zoe & Keith all the best for the future.
Our visitors from the USA hosted by The Philps are taking part in the International Travel Hosting Fellowship programme. During the meeting Roma spoke about col-lecting two or more of your favourite recipes to be published in the Rotary Foodies “N” Fun cookbook. I have a copy of the form that is required to be filled out if you would like to contribute. I know we have some good chefs in our club with very spe-cial recipes.
Talking about food, we shall be having a “Guess who is coming to Dinner” evening on Saturday October 12th. We start at Joyce’s community room for nibbles and then you will be handed an envelope with the persons address where you are going for dinner. The hosts do not have any idea who is coming until you arrive at their doorstep, alt-hough they have specified the number of guests. We need 3 – 4 members to volun-teer as a host, depending on the number of members taking part in the evening. Give it some thought; it is always a fun night. There is a small cost for the meal, yet to be determined.
Our guest speaker Aileen Mountifield spoke passionately on the subject of domestic violence and was very grateful for the gift of personal care items provided by our members to take to the transitional housing. A wonderful effort from all our members present, thank you. I shall keep in touch with Aileen to see how we can continue to offer any assistance to the Lisa Harnum Foundation.
Tonight we welcome speakers from Positive Vibes Foundation and Hills Community Aid, two local charities in the Hills. Jan Duffy
